Haha talking about keeping it in the family my wifes uncle bought this truck new sold it to her husband when he got a new truck in 2001 they divorced in 05.He gave it to his 16 yr old son in 08 who drove it and blew the v6 up after a yr. and it sat in his yard for a yr before he told me I could have it if I got it outa his yard.Needless to say the now 19 yr old boy wants it back now.And yes me and her and ex husband get along great!

yeah jb lots of plans but all depends on $$$ would love to get a 9 inch and narrow the rear but that might be too much.I also am gonna shave the gate and door handles and get a cowl hood and put a slick solind black paint job on her.Might just have to settle with rear disk and posi and some more interior work.

I definitely plan on keeping it in the family - I hope to see my grandkids riding in it someday. I hope to add another mechanical family member one day too - an 83 Chevy that my father-in-law bought new and still uses occasionally to hunt (you can kind of see it in the back ground of this pic).

Welcome to the boards. Looks like a nice truck. From the sounds of it you have a pretty good thing going on with the one coming in the future too.

Re: How about some pics of 88-98 Trucks

way better without steps. Now do a 94-up grille conversion, body match the grille, mirrors, even the little things like door handles and wiper arms, and it would look great, especially with some clear lenses in there, maybe clear LED parking lights and LED corner bulbs, that would help it out a bit. Body matching the grille is a big one, it really makes any truck look better, mine it helped out a lot, especially with all 8 lights in the front being black. Body matching the mirrors helped a lot too, and the handles and wiper arms were a couple little things that helped out. Whenever down the road I do body work, I'm also body matching the tailgate handle and it's bezel (I forgot to have them paint that, and I lost the bezel a long time ago anyways) And if you do get a newer grille, might I recommend if you get a new one, get a GM grille, not a cheap aftermarket grille. In under one year, mine has already cracked. I think being -25 to -40 area did it, but either way, the cheap ones are cheap, and crappy. Anyways, the Blaze looks nice!

thaks guys so what i can tell the only diffeernce between my grille and a 94+ is that there is no chrome trime around side marker lights correct so that would make the side marker lights lil bit bigger im gussin and how much does the gm grille cost and where do i get it.. down here the weather never gets that bad cold thankfully

There are a lot of differences in the grilles. For one, you'll have to update your radiator support. I'm not sure if you have to swap it out entirely, or if you can modify the lights or the support to make the lights fit. Oh yeah, and 94-up lights are different. They look the same, and I think the headlights may be the same, but either them or the parking lights will not fit right. Basically, you'll have to buy new lights for a 94+, in addition to the grille. I am not sure on the price, but I want to say a GM one is 400 bucks or better. Not real sure though.

Look around on the FSC boards too. They are better for 88-current GM pickups than this site is, a lot more stuff, and way more info. Here's some threads anyways...

you don't have to modify the front support its a bolt on affair to upgrade to the 94+ grille you do need the 94+ bumper support brackets and fillers, http://www.latemodelrestoration.com/...ock-Headlights has a kit for $250 plus the brackets and filler kit that is $160

speakin of GM grilles, anybody got a price on one? I need to replace the crappy aftermarket one, even though I hate to think about that, since I've got how much money dumped into just one grille and paint on it that's just a few months old. And does anybody know if you can paint a chrome grille? I've been told you can't, but I don't see why you couldn't just scrape the chrome off and prep the plastic grille for paint.

Great trucks guys! I don't have mine any more, but here is a old pic of it along with a 68 Camaro I had bought that day ( which I also got rid of :waah: ). Mine was a 1990 Silverado. It had a 350, nice system, molded ground effects, cowl cover that covered the wipers, Boyd rims, fiberglass bed cover, hidden hitch behind the license plate, custom exhaust, and as you can see custom paint....think that covers most of it. Hope you like it as much as I did. Got some better pics. This is just the only one I have on my laptop.

Just picked this up for $3600 for my new daily driver. It has 258,000 miles on it. Needs some brake work and I'm taking it to the alignment shop right now, but alot easier to drive then the 1987 K20 I just sold.

Hi!
I'm WAY new here, but wanted to post a few pics of my progress! This is one owner and it was in BAD shape when I got it. Yes, i AM a girl and NO not a manly butchy one! lol, i do all my own work and if I can't do it... i learn it and do it later! I'm into the whole 50's theme kind of thing and wanted to do it to my truck! Like a classic "greaser!" So this is what i've come up with so far!!!! P.s. I DO NOT take it to any shop, minus the paint job and bending the zoomie tips, so this is all me!!!! : ) :metal: :gmc2:

that is friggen awesome Ratrod Girl, friggen awesome! The truck is nice too... I like it, it's custom and different, but not in a bad way. I'm guessing I'm speakin for a lot of guys here when I saw I wish my ole lady was more like you. Unfortunately, she hates all my old stuff, thinks my 67-72s are ugly, I dunno how she likes my 97, maybe cause it's one of the better trucks in town. Oh well, at least garage time is my time then. Still, nice truck, I like it, and like the fact that you did everything yourself.

Most girls look at clothes, I look at parts!!!! Guess thats what I get for growing up around Nascar fan parents. Plus the fact that my Dad is a Master Mechanic, that always helps! ;)

Thanks again for your comment!

Thanks. Lol, the dead deer was a real nice 6x7 my dad took a few years ago. Either that or you saw the 6x5 skull I found out huntin a couple years ago. I don't have a picture up, but I found a really nice 5x5 skull a few years ago out huntin. Yeah I think girls with wrenches is fairly uncommon, and like girls in the oilfield, around here they're not so pretty.
