Really great to be watching two blazers come to life!!

Who will be on the road first? Jim or Jason...?

Maybe we should start up a pole? :burnout:

Right now it would probably the exhaust, lol. Its just two straight pipes that stop just after the x-case. I know, I need to really be puttin' time in.

It should be loud and sound good. My main goal is to hear it over the wind, lol.

I'm sure it will sound good. I made a big deal about my stereo and guys were telling me not to worry about it because you weren't going to hear it anyway with it being topless. I was determined to hear it and it sounds good.

I'm just about ready to lay some fiberglass. I got the form the way I want it for the sub enclosure. I've got some glass work to do on the door panels too. Should turn out nice. Still on the fence about covering in vinyl or rolling on the rubber.

Here is a very crappy video that I did awhile back. I had technical difficulties with the stereo so theres a bit of wandering around while I fixed it. Have patience and enjoy, lol.

Laid some fiberglass mat where the plywood meets the door panel. I'll probably use kitty hair on the backside. Should be strong. Got the fabric coated in resin for the sub enclosure so I hope to start laying mat over that soon. Did some other odds and ends too. Got the temp. sending unit and electric choke hooked up. I replaced some wires that were buggin' me. I also went ahead and made a hole back beside the filler to install the tall skinny thing. Can't for the life of me think of what it is but that describes it, lol. There are 3 fuel lines that go to it. Its all for venting. When I filled the gas tank it wanted to come back out so I figure I better go ahead and hook it all up. Got the visors and holders painted too.

Got the visors mounted. Now I feel like I accomplished something, lol. The resin finally cured so I laid some mat tonight. Might take a few days but I'll eventually get the enclosure done. I'm thinkin' 3 layers should do it. Those fumes are killer from the resin too. Couldn't find my mask....

Looks good - have always wanted to build an enclosure like that - but never had a project to use it on - how is the coverage on the visors - did you do a water or rub test?

I haven't on the visors but I did on the dash pad. Nothing came off. I just cleaned the parts real good, scuffed with 220, cleaned with wax paint thinner, shot the paint. Hopefully it will hold up. If it don't I'll be in the market for some black parts, lol.

Had some more garage fun today. Got the factory radio mounted, just need to find some knobs. The heater controls are in, minus the actual heater, still haven't decided on which route to go with that yet. The clutch is adjusted. The IR remote transmitter is installed, and it works, its neat. 2 layers of fiberglass on the box and a layer on the back of the door panels. Mounted some angle in the tub for the panels to mount to. Got the dash lights working too! It was a long day.

Nice progress - I can't wait until I am at your stage on the build - I will however be an experienced welder like you when I am done. :)

Just think of cruising with the top off over the warmer months - that will keep you moving along at a steady pace.

Keep it up.

I've been watching your progress. It brings back memories, lol. Rust sucks. Just knock it out one piece at a time. Doing it that way has kept me sane, lol, mostly anyways.

Re: "Slowly but Surely" Big J's build thread...

Heres the almost finished sub enclosure. I'm probably going to use some liquid nails to go around the inside where the fiberglass and wood meet. Just to make sure theres no leaks. Now I just need to get some roll on rubber stuff to cover them up. No time or dough for vinyl. I can cover them later when time/funds allow.

I Like it! Nice work..
I'm still trying to dream up what to do on mine.
My Blazer has boring home made panels covered with grey carpet. I plan to do something with them but I need to do the roll bar first (Don't wanna have a speaker enclosure in the way).

DANG Big J, some awsome work you have done. Just finished reading the enitre thread, "I want a Blazer". Where bouts in Gods Country, Kentucky are you? I assume around the Louisville area.

Nice Job!!!

You may want to look at putting a 2" pipe into the bass box you have there. It seems having the area behind a base sealed off would actually dampen it. A 2-4" long 2" pipe with the end of the pipe perpendicular to the bass would actually give you more bass with the "jug" effect.

Yep I'm near Louisville. Everyone needs a Blazer, lol. Now that I'm near done with the Blazer I want a Burban, lol. Just started a new job this week so I've slowed way down on the Blazer. I'm goin' to try and get in there Sunday to get some stuff done.

So would the pipe be in between the panel and the bed or out in to the inside of the tub? I thought about doing a port but I've always had better luck with a sealed box. We'll see, its something I can always tinker with.
