He is gonna do a bedliner material instead of true undercoating. It holds up very well, and is real good looking when done right. Ya, it is a little more money than just throwing undercoating on but it is well worth it. The bedliner will give better protection and more sound deadening.

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)
My cousin did that on his Camaro, and really liked the results.

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)
Think of what a bedliner is designed to hold up to. Being in the elements everyday, having things thrown at it like shovels, rocks, concrete, etc. It holds up very well on the bottom of a vehicle.
The advantage of a high-pressure sprayed liner vs a low pressure system is the durability. I learned alot about bedliners from a guy who had his own bedliner business and sprayed for the body shop I worked in for a bit. If you take a razor blade and cut into a low pressure type it will open up like a flesh wound and will continue to expand over time. The high pressure will just look kind of like a scratch in clear coat and will stay as is. Therefore the high pressure system will hold up longer. Examples of each: high would be like LineX; low would be like Reflex. Those are simply examples. |

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)
I haven't ever done the underside of a vehicle, but I did LineX the entire interior of my weekend '79 CJ-5 14 years ago. And, it still looks like new!

well i got the oil block off plate yesterday and the adaptor for the oil sending unit:metal: also sold my edelbrock shorties late last night from cl... $200:metal: now it would be nice if the guy would come get the motor and trans. Just an FYI....anyone running the block off plate from nook and tranny in place of the oil cooler lines you have to take about a 1/4" off the bolts for them to seat.

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)
Looking good man! Sorry no real update to show you...the snow and cold make it hard to work in the garage for long. And after I replaced the mirror on my sister in law's car (she took it out on her garage) I was done in the cold. But I am making progress.

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)
Dennis, I think I would tap the hole in the bellhousing and add a stud to mount the tube. I dont think I would drill and tap the block though. Just the bellhousing should be fine since the tube wont need much to hold it in place.
