I like the frenchin' the taillights. What about putting the smaller (reverse or turn?) directly below the tail or directly below and a little to the outside of the truck? If it's a reverse/backup light though it'll probably look better where you got it. Just throwing out ideas.
Nothing wrong with the ocd. Even if it's not a "show truck" you'll wind up with something you can be proud of whether it's a DD or show truck, and you can always pull up into that show or cruise in and be proud and just have a good time. :D

No kidding. That is the toughest place around here to get any help when you need it and you got the manager to help roll a piece of metal too. :metal:

Hi Chris

You had asked for more information regarding how I did my tailgate latch and taillight bucket in a privet message, hear is the added information plus links back to my build sections regarding the latch and bucket.

I obtained the spring shown in the below picture from Small Parts INC. but they have changed the number of springs you can order from 2 to 20. Another place you can obtain a similar spring is from McMaster-CARR there minimum order is 10. The spring is used to prevent the lever from rattling.

The Bear Claw latch set I obtained from AutoLoc but can also be obtained from other sources like Summit Racing.

Tail light & Latch concept (post #37 & #39) http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...=318544&page=2
Latch installation (post #69) http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...=318544&page=3
Tail Light bucket additional info (post #410) http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...318544&page=17

The below pictures I believe will give you all the information that I have along with my build thread posts. The two templates should be able to be printed on 8-1/2 X 11 paper with your printer set to print to 100% just check the dimensions listed on the picture to make sure everything printed right.

Re: My 68 swb build.

The shutdown at work didn't go to well and ended up pulling a 26 1/2 hr shift. 6:15 am to 8:45am. I did start on the drivers side bucket. It's not perfect and this flux core welder is junk to use, but its all I got to work with. I am going to go with what was suggested with the reverse light and put it on the outter side of the brake light.

I hope you aren't on salary with a shift like that. I've worked a couple 24's and one 30 hour shift. Not fun and you are pretty much worthless by the end.

Cool. Nice work on the tailight! Is that outline just below and to the left where the smaller light is going?

after a long day at work.....this is what i got accomplished in a matter of 4 or so hours...

i had to run back to lowes and get a 4 in hole saw...got the hole cut out and had to take the grinder and make it an oval to fit the pipe....

then i took the pipe and shoved it in the hole and took a mark with the permanent marker and cut it out with the grinder...added a back plate, tacked it in and then cut the opening for the light to fit in...not the best looking cut, but it will work and i wont have to worry about water collecting in the pocket i guess...
