Well I got the Drivers side header fixed up and coated. I also spent a couple of hours cleaning the truck up. Changed the oil, lashed the valves and added a little timing in hopes it will run a little better in bad air. It's all ready to head to Topeka next week for the Double Divisional. This will be my 6th and 7th race out of 8. My next and final Divisional will be in Noble, Ok the first weekend of October. The week after Noble will be the National Event at the Tx Motorplex. Then it will be time to tear down the motor and freshen everything up for next year. |

Thanks Monty. I'm loaded and ready to go.

Re: Ok Boys and Girls it's Storytime
Well as usual I'm my own toughest opponent. Topeka didn't go very well. I didn't gain any points. So here's a little summary of my own undoing.
Houston- I made it to fourth round and lost a good race. My .017 light wouldn't get it. South Georgia- I give up the stripe 2nd round by .002. Ennis#1- I gave up the finish line 3rd round by a ton. Totally on me! Stupid driving. Ennis#2- I scrubbed E.T. before I caught my opponent 2nd round. Stupid Tulsa - I was just lucky to make it to 4th round. I'll take it. Topeka#1-I gave up the stripe by .004 to the same guy in Ennis #1 3rd round. I would have started making points 3rd round. Duh. Oh and I was .000 to his .032 on the tree. Topeka#2-I go .001 red 1st round. I thought the .000 the day before was fluke. I showed up in Topeka with a chance at winning Division 2.5 rounds out of 1st sitting in 3rd place. I come home in 8th without a chance. |
Re: Ok Boys and Girls it's Storytime
With all that behind me I'm down to two races left. The Divisional in Noble, Oklahoma the first weekend of October. That will be my final points race. the week after is the Fall Nationals at the Tx Motorplex. I made a decision while I was in Topeka. I've been really wanting to try a 4.30 gear for awhile. It's just such a PITA to change with a Dana rear. We found a set so Tony is going to set them up for me. I just keep thinking if I ran right at 130mph on a second gear leave wide open it might pick up a few. At the same time it will kill some starting line ratio. I guess we'll find out. If I can get it done soon enough I may go do some testing before Noble.

Re: Ok Boys and Girls it's Storytime
That's some mighty close races you had..!...good luck with the gears

Re: Ok Boys and Girls it's Storytime
Thanks Greg. I hope it works and doesn't turn it into a pig. I think it will work though. It will hurt the Hot Rod side of me if it slows down. Either way it will race. If it doesn't back in go the 56's. Lol

I borrowed Tony's trailer because mine is covered up with the wood sides off the White truck. I took it to him Monday and brought it home yesterday. So the 4.30's are in now. I had to take a pic because my truck hasn't been on this trailer since 1989. I bought my old car trailer in 1990. Man we are getting old. |

Also I gathered some parts for Whitey. One ton square body front end. I think I can make this work. It has to be split in half to fit. |
Re: Ok Boys and Girls it's Storytime

I got attacked by a random Buzzard back in May. When a Buzzard bounces off your windshield at 75 mph it will get your attention for sure.

Re: Ok Boys and Girls it's Storytime
The MAYDAY Ken is referring to is his eye witness account of the one winged Buzzard spiraling out of control after bouncing off the front of my trailer. He said it looked like the Six Million Dollar Man's crash landing. We laughed for an hour when we got to my house.

Re: Ok Boys and Girls it's Storytime
Well I wish I was reporting good news like a win or something. The 4.30 gear was a mistake. It didn't like it at all. The truck wouldn't pull over 7000 rpm and barely ran 150mph. It should have been around 152. I didn't make first round because of a broken crank mandrel that works a very important thing called the Oil Pump. So I came home wounded and finished in 10th place. I also had to pull out of the Fall Nationals at the TX Motorplex. I've got it ready to come out. Hopefully there's not too much damage.
