Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Took my 72 Short/Fleet to the "AC Specialist" in my area.
I have a Monday Morning appointment, to see exactly what will be needed. Also going to have him install my Billet Gauge Cluster/Gauges from Docs Kustoms and clean-up all the wiring underneath the dash!:uhmk: |

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
well this might not count cause its not a truck, but it is a 72, and a chevy. anyway i started the disc conversion on the mrs's 72 4 door chevelle malibu by taking off the driver's side drum assembly and couldn't get it loose from the upper ball joint so i ended up removing the whole upper a-arm after getting the lower ball joint loose. anyone got some tips on getting the top one out with the arm out and the spindle still attached?? i guess photos can be posted if you guys want some

I finally took on my first real welding job, which was spot-welding in reinforcements for the large hump to cover my new tranny properly.
MIG welding rocks. To those who have always wanted to do it, get yourself one and have at it. Very fun. Cheers, Bovey |

Still sorting through parts. And trying to figure out what fits (or doesn't) between the '71 donor cab and the '68 I'm using. At every turn, something either does not fit, or is simply not there.
Good news, I have about eight doors. Well, I guess that's not really good news, now that I know which ones I'm going to use, is it? Still trying to figure out the brakes. I really wanted to just hang a master cyl on the firewall, so I bought a part for a '71-'72 because I figured I've got disks up front and drums in the rear....But that one wont match up with the hardware coming through the '68's firewall.....Just a rookie move. I guess I'll use the big doughnut from the '71....I was trying to showcase the motor and headers....But stoppage is a good idea. This is the frustrating part.....BTDT. Then, out of all the keys I have, I couldn't find one for the ign that's in the '68 dash I'm stripping. I need the key to get the switch to Acc so I can remove the bezel. But noooooooooo! So, I guess it gets the drill treatment tomorrow, instead of the cleaner paper-clip thru the little hole approach. I am trying to keep costs down, but I did buy a set up from Vintage Air to go with the serpentine belt set up. I hate heat...And I'd rather put paint off a year and clean up the fire wall now while the front sheet metal is off and the motor and tranny are out. Too many things to do.....I always want to be in paint way too early. Slow going is smart for me...... |

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
^^^ I'd be intrested in where you got the caps and what the look like on your truck...my stake pocket holes are pretty ruff looking and was just going to cut a piece and hold them down with the rubber tie down hooks
