Re: She's a ton of fun (dually build on air)
holy cow man this build rocks :metal: I just had a chance to go through it from start too last post. Rus you're killin it! Don't want to jack you thread, but did your PB step notch index off any of the existing holes in the frame, basically wondering if it is self explanatory. Again man great work, and I know I'm a lot late on it but congrat on the little bundle of joy! :metal:

Re: She's a ton of fun (dually build on air)
Yes PB indexes everything off of existing holes in the frame. Will you run trailing arms or a 4 link?
|
Re: She's a ton of fun (dually build on air)
Trailing arms, similar to Dino's first dually.
|
Re: She's a ton of fun (dually build on air)
Cool you shouldn't have any problems, the notches are centered using the bed mount hole closest to the axle (in front of the axle) and if you run PB's trailing arm crossmember it will bolt into the factory location. Its not hard it just takes a little time! I'm looking forward to your progress!

Re: She's a ton of fun (dually build on air)

Re: She's a ton of fun (dually build on air)
Obviously, we need a December and possibly January work day on this thing. I know December is a busy month, but we need to get to work.
|
Re: She's a ton of fun (dually build on air)
Maybe in January. We need to have a holiday dinner and do like a dirty Santa gift swap for December. Lol

Re: She's a ton of fun (dually build on air)
Yea, with worthless Ford parts.

Re: She's a ton of fun (dually build on air)
I got to mess with the old girl a little today! This would be at ride height.
http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/...psrflhn3ib.jpg http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/...psbylpaayi.jpg I also got the drums and backing plates removed so I can install my disc brakes! The brackets are from DIY4X and the are very nice quality, I will run 73-87 3/4 ton 4wd rotors on the rear. There are a few caliper options and I'm not sure which way I will go on those just yet, I would really like to keep a emergency brake but it may not be an option. http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/...ps1baupbdp.jpg http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/...psqudkpdjy.jpg Also my buddy Chuck (thelonerife) built me this sweet patina'ed bicycle that matches my truck! Its so sweet! http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/...psrxpmwsst.jpg http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/...pszpk5gjf4.jpg |
Re: She's a ton of fun (dually build on air)
Are you going to keep this truck patina'ed up or slick paint, etc.? It would be tough for me to decide.

Re: She's a ton of fun (dually build on air)
Love the ride height pic, what height did you set it at. I'm setting mine up at 5.5". Nice looking bike too.

Re: She's a ton of fun (dually build on air)
Your truck is looking great Rus. It was nice finally getting a chance to swing by your shop earlier in the week. Lot's of good looking work going on in that garage of yours.

Re: She's a ton of fun (dually build on air)

It is awesome!!! Keep up the good work!!! Like all your hanging accessories. You look like you have been organizing stuff and nice banners

Re: She's a ton of fun (dually build on air)
Thanks Jeff I've been trying to get things organized. I really need a shop about twice the size lol!
|
Re: She's a ton of fun (dually build on air)
Hey Rus im running the same disc conversion on my 85 cucv with 3/4 rotors and calipers. I used a line lock kit for my emergency brake kit.
|
Re: She's a ton of fun (dually build on air)
I thought about that but I really like the idea of having a back up cable brake.
|
Re: She's a ton of fun (dually build on air)
I can dig that, I just throw a rubber chock in the bed if I need added insurance
|
Re: She's a ton of fun (dually build on air)
Lol I'm more concerned about having it while I'm driving!
