8-16 Hardtimes update. Owner has spent some adding some different things to the truck. He put a fuel cell in, relocated battery to the bed, put and msd ignition box on and I'm waiting on some video of the truck. Not sure if he touched the top end of the engine or not. He did pick up another trophy at a car show! I hope he makes it the the AD nationals Sept 15-16th in Indiana, that is where he lives so its really close to him.

Pic of Hardtimes from a hoods and hops show in IN. Owner is enjoying the truck. He's done some stuff under the hood.

Neat idea putting the copper color on the wheels and firewall. Nice way to subtly make the colors consistent.

thanks, I had that goldish copper color in my head when I saw that patina. it was a big selling point on me deciding to get and build this truck. took years for it to all come together but it was well worth it. the new owner had the air cleaner copper plated!

Are these the F9000 sleeve bags ?

I had em on my old Galaxie, they rode nice

May do a similar set up for my 49

So I got some bag cups, upper control arms and got the front moched up. Had to trim out the spring pocket quite a bit for the 2600 lb bags and roll plates. bag cups gave me hell trying to drill bag holes and not hit the bolts that bolt to the lower control arm. I may not have to dehump the arms. As it is right now it is about 3.75-4" off ground front to back, with no substantial weight on it. The back frame rests on the axle, so no notch as of right now. Good thing is, more bed room.

So that seems pretty far off from laying frame, but good thing is plenty of clearance incase something goes bad, and two I'm at 3" off frame right now. I think aired up ride height the frame will be around 7" which is where my 51' rides, but the 51' is 4" off frame, so I'm guessing the 49' should be cruising with body about 4" off ground so pretty close to my current truck and perhaps a little better. I figured the highest the cab could mount would be 3" that enable me to bolt the front fender on and have it sit on the ground. the running boards normally have a 1.5-2" gap below cab, so I may add filler in there.

I'm pretty happy so far with the outcome, rather than notch frame, dehump control arms, just to get my body 4-5" off frame, I may take my chances with driveshaft, which is about the only issue I see having. All in all I like how I'll have as much bed room as possible and the safety of the frame keeping my oilpan up outta the ground.

yeah these are firestone 9000. Slam came out with a version of it, would be worth looking into also.

The one thing I didn’t like was that those firestone bags don’t have a internal bump stop
Be great if the slams had it with their sleeves
