Re: Bench Seats
ANY So. Cal. Self Service Junkyard if full of them , $40 or less each .
I highly suggest getting the later model ones that fold forward.... I gave away my perfect non folding bench seat after buying a cherry $35 folding one @ P-A-P and buying black extra firm foam and having it recovered... $ well spent if you're planning to drive it much . Quote:

My 4x4 buddies took two of the rims for their pre-runner project the moment I got home. They grabbed them out of the back of my truck. I checked the gear ratio on the rear axle and it is a 3:08. I can't wait to clean up and paint that bad boy, hopefully I will be able to get my truck up to 55 mph or even 60 mph. . BTW Vince! That bumper is cherry! |

Hey Randy, yes I still want that bumper, yet im still dealing with that frontend issue. My last resort is a new tire this week. Maybe I can drive down this weekend. Sorry about the short notice, I just found out Friday from friend of mine. But this meet is every 3rd Sunday so it will be back. |

RE : front end troubles ;
A while ago my old '68 1 Ton Panel Truck had front end weirdness so I rebuilt it , new LT radial Tires , ball joints and so on but even after alignment it still wasn't right ~ it turns out one of the Bridgstone tires was 1/4" smaller diameter than the other four...... No more Bridgstones for me ! . |

I'm still in /rural Maine in the cold & snow , so far I've managed to find one '69 Fleetside and a '67 ~ '72 Panel that was being used to advertise some body shop.... Mostly '73 ~ '87 Square Bodies are the oldest rigs here , largely rusted out plow rigs , a very few shortie steppers . |

Re: SoCal checkin' in
That meet was actually supposed to take place this Saturday, that was the tenative date that I threw out. A few of you responded. I myself hope to have my front end issue fixed this weekend. Dano said he cant do the organizing of the meets for a while. If need be I can do it again. Or someone near where were going to meet can handle it from their city.
Let me know. Can we get a count on who could make it for sure if we had it this Saturday? Im only asking because Rob might say come on down anyway. |

Its more of getting the info out there, calling some of the guys if you have their numbers because not everyone checks the post. Not hard at all. But when going to someones shop, other than getting permission or picking a date that works for most. Again not hard at all. |

Re: SoCal checkin' in
Fixed my front passenger side wheel bouncing. After replacing the shocks, bad left front tire, balancing, alginments, I decided to take the rotor off.
My spindle nut was finger tight and there was some play in the wheel. Took off the rotor and my inner bearing was not up against the the spindle. The last 3/4 of an inch. Sanded down the spindle and it went on. Test drove the truck, the bounce is gone, now have to let the shocks break in a bit. Still have a rotation vibration, but that might be driveshaft. At least the wheel is fixed. DANG WHAT A PITA!!!! |
