Got home late after a trip to power plant in east AR so all I did was unbox my new front springs and remove the upper passenger side A arm. Got the cross shaft ends loose on the bottom A arm so I can now take the U bolts off and drop the arm. It was hot, I was tired, and called it a day.

My new cross shafts should be here today. Ordered those and the new springs from RockAuto. New parts on the work bench motivates me. Even though these are weeks, possibly months from installation.

You probably already know this, but I would opt for the 9/16" lower cross shaft u bolts while you already have it apart, unless you have already done this mod.

Yep, on my list to do upon reassembly. Thanks for the information as I was going to go look for it.

Welded up the gutter. While I was cutting out the rot I used the borescope to look inside the cowl actually real clean . The prior owner had put screening on the cowl cover so there was nothing in there . But they never cleaned the gutter . Was packed with dirt and pine needles when I got it.

Spent the day cutting fitting and welding couple of spots look bad but they are solid just rusty. A little more grinding and sanding ,a little filler and some seam sealer and I'm calling it done

Long story short I recently removed a ton of paint off the evaporator housing. 20-25 minutes oven cleaner, followed by 5 hours of patience and lacquer thinner. Ecstatic they're in great shape for just polish. I have a general cleaning to do yet, and they'll see a fiberglass polish I hope to see as the ticket.

More than that the painter took my cab, cowl & hood today, and dropped off this bed and tailgate.

Started to work on removing corrosion and cleaning up the original wheels. In case I actually decide to use them. I finished getting all 5 and the friction rings cleaned up and in primer. Waiting on flaps to arrive from Coker. Then I have to decide if I actually want to use them.

Changed the accelerator pump, spring and air horn gasket on the Quadra jet. It eliminated the slight bog in the beginning of the throttle.

I siphoned about 15 gallons of old gas out of my tank. For reasons out of my control the fuel will be 2 years old by the time I get it running again this fall. Pulled the sending unit and it looks like it is fairly new. Also pulled a stick out of the tank....must have been kids.

The stick could have been used to check gas level if the gauge quit working. ;)

Before I put the sending unit back in I pulled out a valve stem cap....would love to know the story on how it got there.

1. Blasted and painted a set of horns I got from Danny. Installed and annoyed my neighbors with glee.
2. Completed 1st oil and filter change on my GM crate HT383. Surprisingly little iron on the magnetic drain plug. Filled with 30w diesel oil and a wix filter. Used traveller brand from tractor supply. Next oil change will use 5w30 synthetic.

Might be a story like how one of my little sisters at about the age of 5 thought it would be nice to play "gas station", and put the garden hose into the gas tank of my dad's truck and fill it up! Not to mention the rocks and dirt.

Thanks Russ

I am very jealous of this! I wish I could just get the tires mounted on mine. No one wants to touch the friction ring wheels. I am calling another company today that deals with tractor trailers. They said the old timer that does them was on vacation last rime I called.

New cab bushings installed. Nothing torqued to spec yet because I have it up on jack stands with the entire front end out. Want to wait until I get it back on the ground to line it all up.

Working on the wiring. I'm re-routing it so it's out of sight for the most part. That requires lengthening and some new connectors. Since most of my harnesses are in good shape and still pliable I might as well use them instead of buying new harnesses and cutting them up to lengthen. Also installed a relay harness for the headlights.

Started cleaning on a set of GM transport wheels I recently picked up cheap. Decided since 1 was more faded than the others they needed a touch up while I waited on tires to ship. And figured why not change it a little from normal black or white. Painted dodge granite crystal on a gamble and I'm digging the results so far. Think I did fairly well first time trying to clear coat wheels.

Finished going thru the hydraulic system for my 4 wheel drum brakes. Did the rears couple of weeks ago. No issues except a lot of moisture and crud in the wheel cylinders and a worn star wheel on the adjuster. Finally got to the front ones yesterday. No leaking and really in good shape inside, no moisture that I could determine. But what a pain getting the wheel cylinders off. the bolts are almost behind the spindle frame. And looks like the drums are close to end of life. Linings like like new hoses are date coded 12-31-01 and in pretty good shape. Looking into a disc brake upgrade.

That sure as shootin' ain't California! You'd find no corn, no money, no table, no shade and no cash box around here. And they'd probably throw the cabbage at passing cars. Of course, my nice little corner here, we just have crack heads.

Great color.

Today I started cleaning up the under hood wiring and put a frame to bed ground on that was missing.

Then I took each of the little ones out for a ride around town.

I finally got my speedometer dialed in after switching to a 700r4. Was way off to begin with, I guess the Astro van donor didn't have a stump puller rear end!

New fuel line ran from gas pump up to carburetor with a in-line filter & the brass one. 66 Chevelle 2 barrel filter for it fit perfect.
Took the old line loose and found this. Gas was clogged up, it shut off and wouldn't stay running. I may need to do a tank cleaning in the near future.

Also got the hub caps on the front wheels.
