Re: 2wd Blazer and Jimmy's find thread

At least you are in the south and should have a little better luck finding one. I'm stuck up here in Maine where there is hardly a first gen blazer to be found, let alone a 2wd. Even if I could find one up here, it's more than likely to be a pile of rust.

Re: 2wd Blazer and Jimmy's find thread

Hey buck, I purchased a squarebody from your neck of t he woods. Pictures looked real good. When it arrived here I thought I would replace the interior from a rusty Michigan blazer I have. I got a good surprise after I removed the carpet. The complete floor had large rust holes. Removed the entire floor and replaced it with a pickup floor. I had to cut the floor in half from front to back to make it work. The roof even had rust holes. I have been working on it all winter. I have over 100 pictures of the work done the frame had large rust scabs on it. I bought some white vinegar and lemon juice at the dollar store and kept spraying it down and that stuff really does eat up the rust. I was shocked. Cut the roof off thru the cowl and behind the doors and did the same on my Michigan blazer. Got everything welded now and it looks pretty good but still needs work.
Don't worry about your cab corners Scratch your fanny a few times and it will all come together. No More Florida vehicles for me they are all yours my friend.

If you want a 2wd Blazer to drive and have fun with, who cares if it HAD a front driveshaft. I went crazy a couple years back and put mine for sale; didn't get a single bite at 20g's! I've got that in receipts....never mind a factory canadian 2wd Blazer to start with. I'd convert one in a heartbeat!

58K is cheap compared to what you'd pay buy the EXACT same type of resto mod of a 69 Camaro, or 70 Chevelle or any mid 60's Vette, or Challenger or 'cuda or Mustang or pick any popular muscle CAR. And this Blazer is much more UNIQUE with all the same technology, quality and awesomeness of any of them. And yet many still think that quality, professional resto modded C-10s and Blazers should be maxed out at 20K........maybe give it another few years and our trucks and Blazers will see the respect they deserve. And before I jump off my soapbox, our Blazers are much more rare in production numbers and numbers of survivors than most of the models listed above!

$8500. It has spent the last 20 years in Missouri. Older restoration, with a real ugly front flame job on it. I think it was overpriced by $2000 but that may just be me. I think it had a vortec 305 in it but not sure.

I called and asked what the first two letter of the vin was, he replied with CK.

If the metal is all good and the 2wd conversion was done "right", $8,500 seems pretty cheap, even with the awful flames, IMHO. :smoke:

I would feel good about paying $15,900 for it if it is truly rust free. At this point I am very skeptical of the use of the term "rust free".

He put more pics of it up on eBay. It may be in better shape than mine when I bought it, with the exception of the CB antenna cut in the bedside. It has been repainted, but it does have the Protect-o-plate.

There's no such thing as rust free on anything over 5 years old. There barely rust free from the factory. Even if it's been rebuilt and painted there's rust somewhere. I can believe low rust as a description though.

It was on CL around $10gs & I think that's tops for it. I wouldn't pay $16gs for it that's for sure.

It's absolutely "to each his own" but if a person wants and original paint non-rust bucket 70-72 2wd Blazer they are going to have to pay this kind of money. The guy who's trying to flip this one was very fortunate he got to it first, there is money to be made for sure. I personally would have kept it to build. And I would have given it the full Porterbuilt treatment!!!

Sure it is a nice Blazer, but it has absolutely no options on it. Not even a center console. That is why there is no excitement about it. It is just kind of uninteresting. For me I wouldn't go over 10k If I had any interest, but what do I know?

yeah your right!! also I wonder if it is 6 lug bolt pattern?I think the advantage here is the time and money saved on sheet metal if in fact it is rust free who knows? If the motor and trans is good do static drop with some wheels and roll would be the game plan.

Re: 2wd Blazer and Jimmy's find thread

I paid right at $10k for mine, which was in a similar condition, only original paint but a little rust on the driver's rocker. Mine was bought with no top, and a junk interior which originally came with only a driver's seat, so I have more than doubled the cost on it since. Contrary to popular belief, most of the early Blazers that I have seen were fairly stripped down, but in my mind that doesn't make them any less desirable.

Do "I" think it is worth what he is asking? Yes. If I would have bought this one instead, my interior cost would have been much much less. Of course the suspension and drivetrain costs would have still been the same.

BTW, it will have 6-lug drums on all 4 corners.
