Re: What did you do to your truck today?
You're going to love that bar, but you might need to put a larger bar on front depending on what you have. I was getting a lot of frame twist until I got a large enough bar up front to balance it out.
I have 65 that I just installed the IROC bar on the rear and 1.25" bar on the front off of a 1-Ton. Even with 70 series tires man does it handle. |

I am not sure of the exact size on my front bar but it is pretty stout, it came from a 87 suburban 3/4 ton. Glad to here that the rear makes a difference I am looking foward to driving it. |
Re: What did you do to your truck today?
I think you'll find you have a 1.15" bar it may work. The stock front bar on my 65 was 7/8". If you find the 1.15" bar still allows the frame to twist and if you have a pick your part junkyard near you look for a 1-Ton 73-88 chevy/gmc and pull the bar. I know when I got mine there were a lot of 3/4-ton and camper specials in the junkyard and the bars on them were not as large as the one I pulled from the 1-Ton.
The other thing I didn't think of... If your camaro bar is off of a non-IROC camaro it'll be a 7/8" bar instead of the 15/16" IROC post IROC bar. If that's the case then the 1.15" bar should be fine. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=387834 |

I started Thursday by removing the old wood bed to refinish it, then dad and uncle mike helped me install a new painless performance wire harness. I had a couple electrical problems but I really had no idea how bad it was. Glad my truck never caught on fire.

Was that one of those kits that was specially made for the truck, or one of their universal "hot rod" kits? How was it putting in? I ask because i will need to rewire my entire truck as well. |
Re: What did you do to your truck today?
That harness is made for that truck. Summit had the best price I could find and I got a free power braid kit to dress up all the wires with it valued at over $200. The 35 page installation instructions were pretty good, I thought it came with everything but I had to buy 2 plugs for the tail lights and 2 for the front turn signals. Didn’t really get to finish cause we went to the race in charlotte all day Saturday but could have knocked it out in a full weekend.

I'm doing the same thing I was doing yesterday and will be doing tomorrow. Trying to finish my oil change. I'm trying to deal with a leaking spin on filter adapter the the PO installed.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
I pulled the tranny crossmember from my parts truck, and also got the cab pulled from it as well, and swapped onto my swb. Looks way better, with a complete cab on it. I need to order the engine harness so that I can finish hooking up the big block...thats this weeks project...

Birds of a feather, flock together. The '60-'63's are hanging together at the shop and the big back windows are at the paint shop.

I got some new parts for my truck but didn't do anything to the truck. I picked these up from Pick and pulls half price day. The Grill support was $18 and the carb was $25 and the Truions were in the bottom of the tool bag. OOps.. I paid $50 and some change for it all. I also snagged some bolts. Why not, they only fall on the ground and do nothing anyway.
There was only one ding in the grill support and the carb was a rebuilt one so I really don't know what I have. If it works then I won't have to rebuild my other one. |
Re: What did you do to your truck today?
nothing to my truck. but i almost have this to driver status. and that is awesome i have been working on it for almost five years..

I purchased the nuts, bolts, washers, etc. today at Lowe's but they do not carry the correct size Forstner but to countersink the bed mounting washers. I ordered the bit online and will try to complete my fascia and rain gutter project in the meantime.

Finally got the lower bearing for my C10 Steering Column (back ordered for 3 weeks). I assembled the column and reinstalled it. Lilred66 fixed me up with the correct upper housing and now the column looks "correct" for a floor shifted 4-speed manual tranny. (PO left the 3 on the tree column in it) Now I am waiting for the steering wheel.
Also retired the PO's Edelbrock "ignite-o-matic" foam air cleaner. Replaced it with an old school open air filter design. Now the Eldebrock unit is wall art. |
Re: What did you do to your truck today?
After several months of weather delays, I finally got the opportunity to paint my wheels black. After a few more hours under the heat lamps they'll be back on by tomorrow.

The signal harness goes inside the mast jacket cover, instead of routing out of the lower bonnet to daylight. The mast jacket cover is offset to keep the wires from rubbing between the mast jacket & mast jacket cover. Thanks for the honorable-mention. I am glad to see the parts worked for you. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
No pictures to post today since all of my work has been done from my office here at work. Today I managed to work a deal with a guy for a 1981 Chevy 1/2 ton in trade for an old rifle I had laying around and was wanting to sell. This newer Chevy will give me the parts for the disc brake and power steering swap, and it also includes a running/driving 350/TH350 combo. But get this: that motor and tranny aren't Chevy, they're OLDSMOBILE! This should be crazy fun. I'll post some pics up when I pick up the truck this Friday.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Cut out the passenger rocker, front cab support and the rusted-through parts of the floorboard. Piecing the new parts together was one of the most frustrating things I've did in a while. Who engineered all those parts plus the front fender bolting into one bracket???? :banghead:

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Got a little more than half the exhaust on the chassis, I'm in mockup stage right now so everything is positively filthy still. I'll start a build thread tomorrow and take some pics of the exhaust.
63 short step. This is a pic I took a couple of days ago when I set the 454 in so I could test fit the headers. http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u...v/IMG_1328.jpg |
