Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...

Not much to update, Honey-Do's have kept truck time to a serious minimum...:waah:

The only accomplishment this weekend was to finally pull the trigger on a wheel trade… A friend of mine wanted the 15's I had, and I needed 18's or bigger in order for the rear wheels to hit in case of a flat vs the u-bolts.
The kicker to the deal is that if my friend decides on a different direction for his 94 truck, I get my wheels back and keep the 20's...:mm: I posted pics of these a year or so ago but here's a couple of shots of the wheels on my roller...:uhmk:

you gotta love mark. that tip on expanding the hole on the mount. i've struggled with stabbing those bolts, don't know how many times. sometimes the simplest stuff can be the best idea. thanks mark...

like the wheels and even with all the honey-dos you're making good progress.
stay the course my friend...

As soon as I read Mark's suggestion I thought to myself… "DONE" :gi:
So, in the midst of remodeling our bedroom, read paint and flooring, I plan on getting the motor perches installed this coming weekend and dropping the Engine and Trans in so I can prepare for any Trans mount mods that may be required for the NV3500 5 Speed...:uhmk:

On top of that, May marks 20 years my Tattoo Studio has been open here in Searcy…;) Saturday May 9th we are hosting an impromptu Truck, Car, Hot Rod & Bike Cruise-In… :chevy::burnout::truck:

I just showed Nicola the wheels, this is a great pic for a motivational screensaver too.

What were those wheels from? I cannot remember if you mentioned previously.

Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...

Was lucky enough to squeeze in some additional albeit valuable truck time...:bann:

I started in yesterday getting the trans crossmember mounted, but as soon as I got the holes drilled I had to take my daughter to the ER… She's been having low BP problems and chest pains, and recent Dr. and ER visits have netted very little relief or even explanations… Well last night while going through her test results the Dr's discovered a blood clot in her lung… She is now hospitalized and being treated…;)

so today I got back after it and mounted the crossmember… Here's the frame with my markings for the drilling process...
https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8730/...c16f9e27_c.jpgIMG_2787 by ta2don, on Flickr

I neglected to get a pic of it bolted in… but here's a shot I took before drilling…
https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8808/...d5d136e9_c.jpgIMG_2796 by ta2don, on Flickr

Then I measured for my driveshaft, and in the process was pleasantly surprised to find that the Driveshaft a friend hooked me up with is the proper length...:hot:
I originally measured and thought it was an inch too long…:dohh:
I referred back to a saying my ex-father in law used to repeat often… "Measure Twice, Cut Once.":roll eyes:

I then removed the yoke and u-joints…

https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7664/...67abb43b_c.jpgIMG_2815 by ta2don, on Flickr

Then I cleaned the driveshaft and correct yoke of rust, grease and grime and finally painted...:mm:

https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8694/...db4683e2_c.jpgIMG_2820 by ta2don, on Flickr

Tomorrow I'll get new U-joints and get those installed...:chevy:
That's all today...:exit:

Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...

Daughter is responding well to treatment…;)

After a couple of busy days at work, and some appts for today that had to re-schedule, DAY OFF!!! :bann:

Other than a trip to Lowes to grab some Top Soil, Manure & Sand (for a small garden area) I was able to get some truck time in...:mm:

FIrst a couple of pics of the Trans crossmember bolted in…

https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8786/...b1da38ce_c.jpgIMG_2836 by ta2don, on Flickr

Yesterday I grabbed the crossbreed U-Joint and here's a shot of it on the rear-end pinion… The pinion section is just a bit narrower and the end caps a bit smaller in diameter then the Driveshaft section…
https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7779/...ce68fc94_c.jpgIMG_2915 by ta2don, on Flickr

The Driveshaft installed...:uhmk:
https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7697/...29fc7247_c.jpgIMG_2925 by ta2don, on Flickr

Finally I started mocking up the Serpantine Belt set-up… The A/C Compressor is just there for belt placement, I will be using an A/C delete pulley until I save enough pennies for a vintage air system… The Alternator is AWOL... Gotta pick it up Monday from the rebuilder… The bearings were toast...:sumo:
https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7790/...d1735486_c.jpgIMG_2928 by ta2don, on Flickr

Finally, a shot of JoJo sitting in the truck as we arrived at the studio this morning...
