Question (probably easy answer): I have never had a lowered truck before, how do the tires not rub when turning??

Re: 68 S/C update.....
Saturday was a beautiful day so, we took the truck on trip over to Florabama for the Annual strawberry festival (150 mile round trip). We were cruising 75-80 on the interstate taching around 2200, :metal:. It's nice to be able to ride and have a conversation, lol. Now that I don't have all the motor noise, I can hear all the wind noise from my original window seals so I guess it's time to rebuild them,:D. The truck rode and drove great, I'm still playing with the transmission tune trying to get the 6 speed to feel the way I want, but it's getting there. The only other issue was the tranny temp was around 180 cruising (80 degree OAT) and would get up around 210 if we were stopped for a while in traffic. I think I might need to add a different aux cooler with a fan. Any thoughts on that?

Re: 68 S/C update.....
I am using the auxiliary cooler from a 3/4 ton truck that will hopefully sit right in front of the ac condenser and get fresh air through the grill in combination with the trans cooler that is built into the radiator. Speedway also has a few nice coolers that can be mounted in the fuel rail. I think I have a nib extra 18" aluminum if you are interested.

Re: 68 S/C update.....
Rob, what trans cooler are you using now? I don't think a fan would be absolutely necessary unless you mount the aux cooler in a location where there isn't much airflow
The new stance looks great |

Re: 68 S/C update.....
I would think the aux cooler wouldn't get much air flow since it's sitting pretty much right behind the bumper. I was thinking about this same issue the other day and haven't made any decisions yet. I may do like Boynton suggested and put it in front of the ac condenser and as low as possible

Sounds like a fun trip.

I got my new Boyds tank in. This one has an Aeromotive A1000 pump installed internally in the tank. I should have it installed by the weekend. |

New tank is installed!! Very high quality piece from Boyd's tanks. Craftsmanship is top notch. My only quibble was with the placement of the vent/rollover valve - it's right under one of the bed braces making it very difficult to get to. 3" more to the front and it would have been perfect. Oh well, I just put the hose on before I put the tank up in the hole. Other than than that, I would highly recommend it.
While I had the tank out I also redid my fuel filler neck with a bigger pipe (2"). When I had originally put the filler neck together, I used an 1.75" pipe and then flared the end that connects to the tank which was a 2". It worked most of the time, but if I got a gas pump the flowed really fast, it would burp fuel. So this time, I used 2" pipe for the entire piece. I know that's not a lot bigger, but that's all the room I have up in the bedside. Hopefully it let everything flow a little better than the other one. I also welded a bracket to the pipe to mount it to the bed floor. The tie wrap I've had on there for the last 4 years needed to go  |

Rob, Do you have any more info about the fuel door/lamp housing install? Do you know what donor vehicle the hinge came from? How is it fastened? I am planning to do the same install for my filler. One more question, how did it fill at the station? plenty of flow? thanks |
Re: 68 S/C update.....
It's just for show. This truck does not run on gas... It runs on plutonium. He has one of these in the buddy console

Re: 68 S/C update.....
This thing is looking amazing. Are you still working on the tranny program? I got my '09 dialed in pretty good but I am still not happy with my power downshift.
This truck has a lot of parts that I am interested in. The Dakota Digital gauges you have how did you work the OBDII interface? Also, did you get the boost referance gauge from DD? I may have missed it, but how did you hook the paddle shifter up to the trans and is it the only thing used to shift the trans? |

http://www.hptuners.com/forum/showth...Table-Software I used the Dakota digital BIM -01-1 OBDII interface. I have a NGK wideband that has a display and plugs into my HPTuners interface so I can also datalog it. The paddle shifters have a wireless interface that connects to the Tap up Tap down (TUTD)wire the Speartech pulled when he build my harness. The only way an A6 can be shifted "manually" is with a TUTD switch. |
Re: 68 S/C update.....
No big updates. Just fine tuning a few things. The new tank and filler tube are working great. I have filled it several times and other than having to be careful when it's almost full, I have had zero problems.
