Re: Slosh Tubz new company project "Square Peg" frame laying 1987 GMC Jimmy
well I ran out of welding wire last night so I decided to start my Step by Step Slosh Tubz install so here goes !
|
Re: Slosh Tubz new company project "Square Peg" frame laying 1987 GMC Jimmy
5 Attachment(s)
Step 1. Tape 2 pieces of poster board together
2. Lay the tubz down centered on the board 3. Trace the bottom shape onto the poster board 4. Cut out the bottom shape 5. I used the garage door, this works better if you have someone to hold it for you ! LOL, Place the cut out section on the back of the Tubz and trace out the arch of the Tubz |

6. Cut out the arched piece, this is what you will use for your pattern, save the other pieces they are the patterns you need to make trim panels to go around the Tubz
7. Now tape the pattern onto the inner fender with the bottom contour following the bottom contour on the fender (this will make more sense when you are looking at it all apart) 8. Trace the top of the pattern onto the fender 9. The bottom edge needs a line marked following the edge of the squares where the nut clips go in, once again this will make sense when you are looking at it 10. Now use what ever cutting tool you prefer and cut it out , I like a 4 inch angle grinder with a cutting blade |

11. Next you are ready to bolt in your Slosh Tubz !!
Note these Square body Slosh Tubz were designed around the 80-87 front clips, so there are going to be some modifications to make them work on the 73-79 clips, nothing major, just some of the bolt holes are in different locations so as soon as I get those done I will post those pics also ! |
Re: Slosh Tubz new company project "Square Peg" frame laying 1987 GMC Jimmy
Sweet Tubz!!

Re: Slosh Tubz new company project "Square Peg" frame laying 1987 GMC Jimmy
looks good , i think the biggest problems with making tubs youreself from trailerfenders is making it fit the shape of the inside of the outer fender to prevent roaddebrees and stuff from collecting between the two parts
it might be an idea to run some channel rubber over the cut piece before installing the sloshtub http://i.ebayimg.com/t/U-CHANNEL-RUB...bLir!~~_35.JPG nice thing about that is that you could hide quite a gap with it and prevent some of the wet gunk comming intoo the space between the inner and outer fender to drip down the visible side inside the engine compartment |
Re: Slosh Tubz new company project "Square Peg" frame laying 1987 GMC Jimmy

Great day today just got in the Eddie Motorsports S Drive LS system and I have to say out of all of the pulley systems I have seen and installed this one is at the top of my list , each part packaged separately with its hardware (no sorting through bolts trying to measure them and guess where they go) and the directions are Unbelievable I have read them already each step totally detailed out and pictured ! Amazing !! Thank you Eddie Motorsports for being a part of the Square Peg build !

Re: Slosh Tubz new company project "Square Peg" frame laying 1987 GMC Jimmy
Nice....can I admit on here I'm supremely jealous of all the freebies you've gotten for your builds? I keep thinking...thou shalt not covet....thou shalt not covet...;)

Re: Slosh Tubz new company project "Square Peg" frame laying 1987 GMC Jimmy
from wat i can see it looks like a verry sorted system
i seen the frontrunner system from vintage air a while back the good thing of that system is that it allways lines up the pulleys , they use a frame that bolts to the waterpump bolts front of the engine that mounts all the accessories in one plane with the crankpully so it allways fit no matter wat holes are drilled from the factory or wat type of heads are mounted there pricey though |

Re: Slosh Tubz new company project "Square Peg" frame laying 1987 GMC Jimmy
Mike is dead right Most of the stuff he is getting is not a 100% free. It is discounted at different %'s depending on the company. But every dollar counts. Its more about what can you do for the company to promote the product. My experience has been companies don't care about features in magazines unless its a how to article which is huge for a companies product. Just my 2 cents.
|
Re: Slosh Tubz new company project "Square Peg" frame laying 1987 GMC Jimmy
Also, a lot of companies will only offer 10-15% or so off their normal price, which is no better than a regular sale or group buy. But it all helps and is much appreciated I'm sure!
