Re: My 52 GMC Build
I really like those LED bulbs. I got the same brand for my wife's excursion. I also put them in a 98 Dodge. No issues with the LED's compared to the horrid HID set ups.

So today I used my truck as a truck and picked up the wood I'm using for the new bed. Then started working on prepping the cool new bed. Also my friend Joe sent me this pic from a week ago when I was skating down the expressway, about 1" off the ground at 60mph.

Re: My 52 GMC Build
Love it man, your truck is my favorite of all the builds I have gone through since I joined. Good stuff!
|
Re: My 52 GMC Build
I love looking at your build, it makes me really happy to know that I am not the only one that likes off-roading and still built a lowered truck!
|
Re: My 52 GMC Build
Just wondering is that engineer Joe from jeepkings
|
Re: My 52 GMC Build
Well lower50s.. I just went searching for the jeep lights you were talking about and see they make a complete led replacement light for the jeep jk...would those work as well as what you used?

Re: My 52 GMC Build
Very nice pics! I'm in the middle of bagging my 40 Ford. I don't think it'll be as low as your truck when driving down the road though.

Re: My 52 GMC Build
that highway picture is insane!! i'd expect a cloud of tarmac dust behind it from scraping the road :metal:

Re: My 52 GMC Build
never fails looking good on the road.

Re: My 52 GMC Build
LED looks great, will have to look into those. I tried the GE 7in LED and didnt like how they stuck way out from headlight bezels.

Got the plywood off, bought all my hardware for installing the new bed. Maybe I should just put a piece of plexy glass on the bed frame. Hope to have the bed done on the weekend then you all will see.

So here you go, what I'm sure you have all been waiting for......The plywood id gone!!! Took a lot more time to accomplish than I thought, but got it 99% done last night. Just have to drill, nut and bolt some center holes.
My little $2 garage sale drill press came in real handy drilling basically 108 holes in stainless. I'll get a picture in the sun this afternoon. Attachment 1645378 Attachment 1645379 Attachment 1645380 |
Re: My 52 GMC Build

The first pick you can see the clamps for the electricity. Max distance I could get results was 2' between clamps the closer the more violent. This was only about 10", this part is up near the cab in the middle.
Second pic is in the sun. All the wood has a matt clear varnish. Attachment 1646034 Attachment 1646035 |

Re: My 52 GMC Build
So I ordered 2 new front air bags, one has a small slit in it, they carry a lot of weight so peace of mind it's been 2 years. Also ordered a head liner and the inner door seals that go in the grove and on the floor to door. I'm thinking of covering the head liner in speaker box carpet, as well as door panels.
How do you guys finish the edges? Wrap around or cut flush? |
Re: My 52 GMC Build
Nice work on the wood. I was wondering how in the world you were burning it too. Did you just rob the microwave transformer from your microwave then put it back in when you were done?

So this weekend I got a few things done on the truck. I put on some chrome hub caps on my dually's, I like the look.
I got the head liner covered in the speaker box carpet and installed, installation is not an easy thing to do! and the upper speakers hooked up. Turned out really nice. The carpet really muffles the sound inside should make a huge difference when I'm driving. Today I mounted and hooked up my new 2 stage boost controller. Now I can have "drive around" boost and "Lets get crazy" boost lol. Really it will be 8psi and 14psi, I drove all last summer at 8psi so 14 will be fun.
