Then I lined up the cab corner and welded it in place.

I smoothed out the welds with a flapdisk. Pretty smooth, however might need a sliver of filler. All this silver paint is just what I had at the moment to protect everything from the rain.

Picked up a set of 3 pairs of nice black lap belts with chrome buckles from kms tools (similar to lmc). Drilled the holes in the floor and used large flat washers on the backside, bolted down with grade 8 hardware.

Scored a set of 1950 Pontiac Taillights from a local guy, they cleaned up pretty good. Installed them in the backs of the fenders.

While I was down there, I visited my buddy Al (sspeed66). I bought this horn ring from him as my old one was already broken when I bought the truck.

When I returned from my trip I bled out the brakes, finished a few little things and fired it up! It was finally moving under its own power!

During September I didn't get much work done on it, but I drove it to school everyday. About half way through the month I went on a backpacking trip with most of my grad class to yoho and Banff national parks as a grad trip. Here are some pictures. This pic is from lake o'hara.

This is a transmission crossmember I built to support the t5, I know that many people just hang t5's without one and I have been doing so for the past few months, but this was just to be safe. It's made from 1.5" square tubing 1/8" wall. It's upside down in the pic.

Re: Nik's 62 build
Hi Nik. Great pics. Was wondering what the back up lights are from? How did you mount them on the fenders, did you use a wedge underneath?
|
Re: Nik's 62 build
Also, is that a front bumper used on the rear? I like it.

Re: Nik's 62 build
Awesome to see it moving. It has to be a good feeling after all of the work that you put into it. Will it be a daily driver?
|
Re: Nik's 62 build
You might need to put a few hundred pounds in the back.
