As lame as it sounds, I replaced my heater hoses and the carbon in my evaporator canister...I drove it to work for the first time in a week...like I said, LAME! I plan on replacing all the hoses for the emissions system in the next few days...EXCITING!:5150:

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
NOT ' lame ' ! .
Doing the basics and making a good job of it is one of the better things you can do ~ I always replace every single little hose and I like to use the OEM type spring clamps on them too , even the vacuum hoses that don't really need clamps . How you tend to the details on your truck , reflects greatly upon you as a person . -Nate Quote:

I got both of my arm rests' & all 4 escutcheons' installed today. I found out the hard way today to install those escutcheons' is to pull the door panels completely off and use about 2 tons of brute thumb force to snap those dang things in! lol Sometimes the smallest things can be the hardest things to replace or repair. :chevy:

RE : window cranks & inside door handles
Actually they're incredibly easy to remove and install , once you buy the $5 GM door handle tool at all FLAPS in the HELP aisle ~ it's just a flat bit of stamped sheet metal with a weird cut out in one end that *instantly* pops those dang clips right off . |

Like any tools, if there's a good and a "better" one, get the "better" one. I use a small chunk of dish towel wrapped around the shaft (all bad jokes aside) with some success. Some are easier to get than others. But having extra wire "pins" is a good idea. I'll risk this observation: When you put 'em back on, you snap the wire on the groove in the handle and when you're ready, whack it into place....But you got that already, right? |

So my brake job was delayed a while due to conflicting schedules but finally got "mostly" clean brake fluid coming through lines, after siphoning out most of the old fluid with a turkey baster. Figured if I'm at the reservoir might as well make it look good. New vacuum line and vacuum check valve.also a fresh coat of paint. Since I was under the truck flushing brake fluid, might as well do the diff. Would not have been to long of a job except for a mix up at the parts counter. Received a diff gasket for a car 12-bolt rear end instead of the truck. #lostintranslation. Also shot the cover with sum paint.test fitted the new chrome eldlebrock air cleaner to have an idea what it will eventually look like. Engine and trans power wash and paint next...

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Glad you used those , most are too lazy to care .
They're easy to install : hold them in place , and bang the handle on with the palm of your other hand . I replaced these on my C/10 just because they were gone missing and I hate the drafts & rattles they prevent . |
Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I got the dash pad replaced and new visors and rods installed. Will be putting my newly recovered door panels in tomorrow - along with new handles, cranks and arm rests.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I got to spend a few minutes working on the truck. I replaced the shift indicator cable on my B&M shifter. It was a nice weekend here in CO. I tuned up the jeep, new plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel and air filter. Running like a champ now. I had to recharged the K&N air filter on my Toyota and replace the serpentine belt. Damn Toyota is made for tiny hands. Sure makes me appreciate the room I have in the truck. Watching the bronco game now. Go Manning.

Re : Custom Paint
You Sir , have MAD skills ! . I remember in the 1970's when so many Los Angeles cars had this typ of paint , it was *very* labor intensive and often had the appearance of overlapping lines in it .
Kudos . -Nate Quote:
