Re: ''Project '64 SYT Super Yenko Truck"

I've got a set of hawged 283 heads they worked good on the 283 they were on pulled from 4000 till the distributor couldn't keep up
5.7 vortecs are suposed to flow almost as much as 327 camel backs
We run camel backs on 65gmc930 's 355 in his race truck, he's another gearhead who's not old enough to drive by himself on the road and nobody is crazy enough to ride with him on the track.

Re: ''Project '64 SYT Super Yenko Truck"

Re: ''Project '64 SYT Super Yenko Truck"

ILL SEE IF i STILL HAVE THE SHEETS i WENT TO UTI ABOUT 10 YEARS AGO AND IT WAS ONE OF MY LABS. I BUILT A SMALL BLOCK AND COMPARED INTAKE / HEADER COMBOS ALONG WITH HEAD COMBOS. ILL LOOK FOR THE LAB SHEETS FOR YA. BUT I WILL SAY WITH A LITTLE SPRAY THEY WERE AMAZING. 10:1 LONG TUBE WITH VORTEC HEADS AND EDELBROCK VICTOR BROKE 500 HP AT THE WHEELS WITH A TURBO 350. NO CORRECTION'S.
THATS WHEN I BECAME A BOTTLE BABY.

Re: ''Project '64 SYT Super Yenko Truck"

Don't spend a buch of time on it just curious we need to build an engine for the race truck and have a vortec handy (thinking)

Re: ''Project '64 SYT Super Yenko Truck"

Yeah I like them the canted valves are nice. if your going to spend the money on head work I would do so on the vortec heads. but make sure you take them to a shop that knows vortec. you can over port them and ruin the heads flow characteristics

62gmc910 12-24-2009 01:28 PM

Re: ''Project '64 SYT Super Yenko Truck"

we have to leave them stock or we get bumped to open class and those guy spend a fortune on their engines

Re: ''Project '64 SYT Super Yenko Truck"

well yall warned me
the ford got 10 miles from the house and it blew the upper radiator hose off
put it back on and filled it up at the car wash
then went to the parts store and picked up another one 25 bucks there
i got home and found out the radiator is leaking so i have to pull it out and take it to the shop
