Do you think I'll need to remove the rubber bumper and its bracket to lay frame. What about the shock mount location? Does this stay in the same location or will this also have to be moved? I'm also thinking about the steering. If I lay frame do I need to go with rack and pinion or can I do it some other way.:uhmk:

U need shorter shocks.

What's the update on the transmission? Now that it is out.....Keep me posted-- mine comes out maybe next week if time and weather permits.
Something to add to "This I Know thread"--- "Take the crossmember out and un-bolt the bell housing...."

I did'nt have to remove the cross member. Once I saw I could unbolt the bell housing it came right out. The bolts for the bell housing where on the inside. It like a 2 part bell housing. Unbolt it from the engine, then slid it back enough to get a wrench inside to undo the two bolts on the side. Unbolt the last two transmission bolts and bam it's out. I took it down this afternoon should know tomrorrow.:waah:

Just wait when the time is right, bam! I'll have me some bezels. For cheap:lol: I just have to stay awake and relax. And no beer or Rockstar. Damn, it might be awhile.:smoke: Any idea how to tell a 71-72 front a arm from a 73 a arm. I took my arms off a sub. The guy said it was a 71. I don't have the title or anything so I don't really know? The sway arm was rubber mounted.:ito:

Mine is a mustang rack, 79-93. I'm not sure what the diffrence between the musgang and pinto. I think the pinto may be a little shorter though.

Re: Daverods project 66

My understanding is that the 63-87 are all the same, 63-72 use pressed in bushings. Then you know the ball joints are diffrent from 63-70; 71-72; 73-87

I was wondering if the arms are the same except for the bushings I wonder why the ball joints are different? I need to get new ball joints. Just want to make sure I get the right ones.

Re: Daverods project 66

balljoints are diffrent because the spindles are diffrent. You know GM has to change something to make more money. It just depends on what spindles you wanna use, if your going 5 lug go look for some 73+ spindles, the other 2 are 6 lug.

The guy said mine was a 71 and it has 5 lug. I'm starting to think maybe it was'nt a 71. Anybody know if this is a 71?

Re: Daverods project 66

71 & 72 were the first year of standard issue disc brakes and are 5 lug. I think that I heard that the 71 and 72 were steel on steel in the upper and lower control shaft threaded ends and that 73 and up were rubber mounted in the shaft ends. Does yours have grease zerks in the ends??? if so, it is probably is 71/72,
Bubba

Man i keep forgetting that 71-72 are 5 lug, I need to drill that in my brain. But if your going to go 5 lug go with the 73-87 since it doesn't use the crazy bushings.
