Received my new Heater Core, none of the regular truck shops had them in stock. I found out that Rock Auto stocked them and I was able to get one for $60.79 with priority mail shipping the total was only $67.04, which is at least $40.00 cheaper than the various truck supply houses.
I have the large Deluxe heater core with the defrost system in my '60 GMC. The Rock Auto part number is 9010099. A really neat thing that Rock Auto does is show the measurements so you know you are ordered the correct one. |

Spent some time cleaning of my junkyard find. The towel was white when I started. Engine de-greaser and a nylon brush seemed to do a fine job of getting that years of hand germs off of it.:metal:

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III
Pulled my valve cover and found a loose rocker (thankfully). Fixed that, and the engine is quiet like it should be. Set timing and idle. Put in fresh Rotella with a dose of ZDDP additive, and an oversized oil filter. Greased the front end. Enjoyed my now nice-driving truck that is finally running well, and has a lot more power than when I started.

Welded the angle strips onto the bed sides. Lots of effort to be sure they are in the right place.

Popped the hood for the first time in a while today. Found some wicked carb leaks and the front seal on my blower needs replaced. But it's hot and I'm lazy so maybe next weekend. I did polish the wheels and bumper/grille. $50 and a Saturday and I'll be beating the truck some more.

I bought new wipers, and then completely disassembled them to use the rubber to rebuild old wipers.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III
Re-rednecked my sound system. First I dropped a pair of Sony house speakers in my truck box, then wired it up to the stereo system, using a set of house light switches to avoid being too obnoxious to the world. However, when I do need the noise, they'll come in handy.
