[QUOTE=MacQuigley;7411703]Looking really good Martin.

I know the feeling about not being able to get to the garage. My dad's still in hospital (hopefully getting his hip re replaced tomorrow, dislocated it twice since it was put in 5 weeks ago) and he is as desperate as me to get stuck into the C10 - its become a father son project, just not the father son I was expecting. Actually its a bit of a father son grandson project now.

So Ive not forgotten to call you but Ive just not had a minute.[/QUOTEi

I hope your dad is ok , last year I had my mum in hospital the week before Christmas. Luckily they let her out on the 23rd . Just call when you have time no problem

Well I said I wanted it rolling by Christmas and well it's rolling . I still need to fit the rear shoes and rear wheel cylinders , but I have spoken to Don and he is getting me the rear Spring kit .

Well after I pushed it outside , i decided to get the engine in place

The next job is to fabricate a mount for the TH350 auto box so the engine is in and the box will have to follow . I have already got the later 66 park brake cables so I can do away with the canter leaver system on the 65 .

good progress and nice detail. like the color variations and how they make the parts stand out.

Amazing progress Martin!!!

With the rebuild of the truck, there are some parts that one would be silly not to just replace while in there.

The springs and clips on the drums for my and Martin's trucks are only going to cost us $10.00 per end plus postage so for $20.00 or £13.50 the brakes then have a new parts again.

So this week I sent Don some cash via PayPal (Thank you mate) to pick them up for us and send them through when he gets time.

Last night he sent these pics......

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psauy0ywl8.jpg

They do look a lot more impressive than some of the rusty, dodgy bits that came off my truck.

Martin came over today and then we popped over to my favourite yard to look for some steel for his gearbox cross member that he now has to manufacture. He also needed to look at some parts on my truck that need copying.

As you both agree it's not worth skimping on brakes all the hard work getting it back on the road to be a shame to crash it because of brake fail .

Once again thanks Don without guys like you helping me and Rian's builds it would be a lot harder .

Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"

Well as Rian has mentioned earlier, I went to his to give him a hand . But before We started working on his truck , we both went to the scrap metal place . I needed some steel to make a gearbox crossmember . The guys down the yard are a nice bunch of blokes and there prices are reasonable . All that steel for £5 about $7.50

This is my little hoard , enough steel to make a crossmember

http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...psyuzgco75.jpg

This is what I am hoping to make tomorrow

http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...psp51ktwkw.jpg

The next problem I have is my prop mine is to long . The other problem is the joke is the wrong one . I was given one by Clem on our trip but unfortunately it was the same as the one I already had . So luckily I rembered that Andy on here had got one from Dell . I rember from his thread that he didn't use it , so I called him and at last things are looking up . It's the right length and even better it has the right yoke on the end . With all that's going on at the moment at home , it's great to get some good news . Thanks Andy for your help with measurements and pictures .

The wrong end on my prop and the one from Clem

http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...psgtyenbre.jpg

The correct style that's on Andy's prop

http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...pscegfxig6.jpg

So it's just a case of getting it from Andy's , ironically Andy picked it up from mine when he purchased it from Dell . Once again this board and the guys on here helping each other .

I'd like to wish all the guys reading my thread a happy new year, with lots of truck time . Like me I hope you get a lot nearer completion in 2016 . So I hope to see lots of updates on the threads I follow .

Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"

Well I managed to get my crossmember made today .

http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...psga0pdpam.jpg

http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...pszqh2bhkf.jpg

This is with the gearbox mount in place

http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...psc68nx48u.jpg

What I did find was the C section I used on the ends is an inch shorter than the chassis rails , so instead of cutting and changing it . I decided that by using two half inch spacers , I have the option of raising the crossmember , depending were the spacers are placed . Tomorrow I plan on checking the clearance with the exhaust to see if I need to put some notches in , if it fits I will drill the holes and get it painted .
