Email from Jeremy.

The spring loaded valve? That’s probably the spring on the IAC. That’s necessary to keep the IAC motion stable, and is necessary for proper IAC operation. There is no difference between power adder or anything with regards to that valve – each one is the same.

If the screen on the handheld does the white-out, it’s because of a noisy and bad voltage source. Even if it tests out as reading the same as the battery during cranking, it’s not – the starter circuit puts TONS of “noise” onto the line, which is why it uses a dedicated circuit on everything since the stone age. The handheld isn’t a ruggedly designed piece, so it freaks out a little when the voltage spikes.

If it starts good with just a little bit of throttle cracked open, it could be a little bit rich for the CRANK FUEL, reduce that to lean it out. With cold starts, there’s only 1 chance to get it right each day. After that, things are heated up enough that the fueling requirements are way different depending on if it is being restarted in 10 seconds, 1 minute, 10 minutes, 5 hours, whatever. It’s impossible to make 1 calibration to work for each engine, which is why it is adjustable. So, it’s one of the areas that just can’t be “learned” by the ECU. When the engine gets colder, the variability gets greater.

Thanks,

Oh great, I bet that's what you wanted to hear. Try a adjustment and then sit and wait another day to try another.
Hang in there Rod, there's others out there that don't have this issue and I really believe this is something that can be "tweaked" out of it.

To prove my point, I just placed an order for part of my fuel system today. Just part of it because I have to modify a sending unit to take a larger feed tube and I rather do that to a new none gas soaked unit. Next week I should be ordering my fuel hose and fittings.

I was not happy with that at all. As I understand how cold start work. I understand how a carb and EFI works I understand how turbos work supercharger and how nitrous work and meth works. This is not my first go fast vehicle or modding a vehicle. With saying that I know things change everyday and I am open for learning and using new technology and things of that nature. And like I told him I have set it all back to default and still have the same issue. No response back yet. So hopefully with this replacement handheld I am getting tomorrow it might fix something. Doubtful but possible.

New handheld because it whited out a few times or is there something else wrong with it?
Is it being replaced under warranty?

I'm going to start searching the web for cold starts with the FiTech unit and see if it's just adders or both standard and the adders.

New handheld because it stopped datalogging. It would not save a data log to the SD card. So they sent me a new one under warranty.

I've been searching the Internet the last couple days.
Nothing new but those ones we already posted.

Re: 1976 Square "Simple Green"

So I have added 4 new grounds I have added a direct wire from battery to junction block. Checked all my connections 3 times. Even had someone else go over them as a safety net. Updated dizzy new plug wires new plugs. And today a new handheld. If this **** does not start then something is wrong with the FiTech that's the only thing left.

Re: 1976 Square "Simple Green"

Well looks like I got V2 handheld for the FiTech. Plugs are spaced farther apart. Got to do a few things today before I can test it out.

Not had a chance to test out V2 handheld or put tank back in been busy. But I will be back on it tomorrow. So we will see how it turns out.

Ray here.
The carburetor has been reinstalled.

The fitech nightmare is over..Sent every thing back...

I will have to say Fitech has the most useless Tech line I have ever dealt with...

Thank you for reading my ramblings.....

Ray.....OUT.

Re: 1976 Square "Simple Green"

This is what I sent Ken and Jeremy today.

Ok so recap of what I have done. Before fresh new start up. Replaced gas tank replaced intank pump with new Walbro 400 all new wiring to and from pump. New fuel lines new fuel filter. Added new grounds add direct 12v to FiTech. New handheld. If this thing does not run right after a few WOT runs and start running afr 18-20 and dies and ****. Guys I am sending this back so you all can test it. Cause after all of this and replacing everything twice now the only thing left is the FiTech period. It is all brand damn new agin. So it has to be something with the FiTech nothing else it could be. And I hope to god this fixed my cold start issue. Either way if it does not perform like it should I am sending it back so you all can test it or send me a new one.

Re: 1976 Square "Simple Green"

Still has cold start issue.
Won't idle in gear now.
No WOT runs started raining.

Not a happy camper.

email sent to FiTech.

Re: 1976 Square "Simple Green"

I am going to mess with it some this weekend. If I can't get it running right then idk if I am going to let them test it or just get my money back. I have never had this much issue with a carb or EFI system. I ha e double spent on fuel system and all the other BS that goes with it. I want my damn truck to run.

Cancelled my order.
Early Adopter = Beta Tester.
I'll see how things go with others in the coming months.

I sure would like to see you get it sorted out and not give up on it but totally get it. It's easy to be on the sidelines hoping this half-price kit is the real deal. Is it still true that all the problems have only occurred with power adder kits?

Re: 1976 Square "Simple Green"

Ray here.

I could write a full page on the last 2-3 days but am not going to.. I have already wasted to much time on this.....Fitech needs to make some changes and FAST they cant run it like a road side fruit stand any longer..

Im going to take a bath on the money and time i have spent at this point.....
Maybe i need to give this more time?

If i had published everything that has happened most would not be leave it..

Ray.

Re: 1976 Square "Simple Green"

Well unlike Ray I have been given great customer service just got off the phone with FiTech. They are sending me a pre paid shipping label cause they are going to test my unit out. And see if anything is wrong if it they are going to fix it and send it back. Bottom line with all the time and money I have spent I can't give up just yet. They have been more than helpful and are standing behind the product and are going to make it right. I honestly feel that I have a defected unit. I have gone over the install with them several times replaced the entire fuel system 2 times. And it still has a issue. So fingers crossed they find something wrong with it. And I hope they test the hell out of it and run the piss out of it.

I am not giving up yet. I can't.
