the wheels were $1150 out the door with valve stems, lugnuts, and tax. i got them through cltireandwheel.com great place to deal with.

i did find out today that the toyo 295/40's are on back order so i'm searching for someone to have them in stock. might have to wait a bit anyways... i think i killed the money tree. over prunning the last couple days.

Great looking wheels. Nice choice. Glad they fit over the big hubs.

I hope they keep it around that price.

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)

They look really good with the rubber mounted. But man those discs look tiny compared to that big ole wheel. Diggin the red calipers too. I wonder if you could paint them to match the body color?

Man your truck is going to be sik with all the details you have put into it. I can't wait to see the end result. How long before you get the sheetmetal and cab back from paint? I want to see how the TBSS Red Jewel turned out. I'm thinking of using that color with my two tone paint scheme.

Jeramy, thanks man! i cant either. i'm really happy with the way things have gone so far. couldnt have planned it better! 1 thing that went out the window was "a budget build" as soon as i bought the 6.0. oh well... as for the paint the cab is actually leaving the painters house today and going to the shop!(means the body work is done on it) so hoping to sit the cab on right before we leave to Colorado!:metal: then i'll give him the fenders, stripped doors, bed, and misc. parts. it'll come together by the end of summer:devil:

here's a few pics of the front wheels and the best shots i could get of the chassis for now. this thursday im going to roll her into the driveway for a cleaning and photo op!

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)

Nice build... I've been reading this whole build from page one and im definitely more confident for when I start mine, 83 lwb c10. Dennis, If you had to total everything up so far what would you say the cost is? Just curious.

I see you have a Goat, very nice. I sold my 05 GTO (sap) a month ago, i hated to see it go. Good luck with everything else, thats if u need it, looks like you always have a handle on things.

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)

thanks guys! y'all keep me going!

CoreyLeo223, what an awesome 1st post man. i apprieciate your comments and i'm happy this novel has helped you feel more comfortable in tearing your truck down:D

as for the total cost... i went through a few reciepts just to jog my memory and wrote a list of the big purchases. i cant believe the number i'm looking at right now!

$13700 with the paint.... :thud:

just keep in mind this has been going on pretty consistant for 18 months now. i'd like to say im at least 1/2 way there. once the painter is done doing his thing she will start coming together.

as for the goat, its a love/hate thing...

if you ever need any help or advice or have any to give feel free to post up buddy. there is a great group of guys i consider friends on here who are always ready to help;)

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)

Look at it this way dennis, your not even halfway to the cost of a new fully optioned truck. You will have a brand new truck when your done though...

54Caddy 06-25-2010 01:25 AM

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)

Youll get there dennis, just keep in mind what the truck means to you man. No worries it will get done. Hell get you a crate and drive it ahahaah. Its looking good thought dennis.

Jonboy 06-25-2010 08:42 AM

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)

I don't think you are supposed to add up the reciepts. You only keep them for warranty.

I have actually taken a bit of the opposite approach with my truck. When I was building my Blazer, I bought a lot of stuff, and ended up giving a lot of it away when I got divorced. There were a lot of NOS parts that I would love to have now. Anyhow, I am trying to keep my '79 as low buck as possible. It seems to be working. I have been enjoying scavenging stuff here at work and trying to make it work. I have quite the pile of stuff in my garage.

menace121978 06-25-2010 08:49 AM

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)

:haha: now you tell me!!! i figured i'd end at 20 so its not far off. oh well is just money right?

just wish the painter would get a move on so i can see a truck again!

STOCKISH 06-25-2010 08:54 AM

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)

Dennis, dont feel bad man. I am right at $9700 with mine and it's not even getting painted! It's not about the money. It would be well worth the cash in the end to have a rolling memory of your Grandfather and a truck that will be about 10 million times nicer than any new truck you could buy. $13,000 is not bad if you say it real fast!
