i think you can cut and shut youre original plasic coverpanels on the sides
you either need to lay them on top over wheelwells and cut them to size under the windows or cut out a rectangle in the top and move the bulge in the plastic up and glue everything together again to where you moved the steel innerfender
it looks like whats left under the wheelwhells is going to get covered by the seats themselves (that is if you make them wrap around the whells a little )
either that or get the carpet up a little higher than usual so it covers the part between the doorsil and benchseat

I am thinking about doing something in metal ??? we will see

What do you guys think about this idea, I am thinking about cutting off some outside bed skins and welding them in on the inside ie. drivers side on pass side and pass side on drivers side ? I think I will try to get a piece and test fit it , It might look like crap I don't know just trying to do something different ? Any other ideas ?

Re: Slosh Tubz new company project "Square Peg" frame laying 1987 GMC Jimmy

It'd be cooler than plain, flat sheet metal and wouldn't require the bracing that the flat pieces would need but how much interior space are you going to loose? Trying to picture how far it would "kick" in. You're on the right track here and I'm sure you'll come up with something cool!

Re: Slosh Tubz new company project "Square Peg" frame laying 1987 GMC Jimmy

if you get those newer type bedskins sure that could be done
you might even use fenderflares instead

Mike, that sounds pretty cool. I think it will take up a LOT of space inside the bed though. I bet you'd have at least a foot of empty space between the inner and outer bedside. That would give you tons of space to hide things between them but if you plan on being able to cruise around with the family that rear seat is gonna have to be narrowed quite a bit. Not sure there'd be enough room for two people to sit on it.
I could easily be wrong but that's what I'm envisioning in my mind.

ok , I think I have come up with something here....I made a few quick patterns, the side will be an armrest/ cup holder/ storage compartment

I kept the notch cover rather simple, it will be completely covered with the Bed Wood and Parts false floor with a lot of storage underneath for battery and air ride

Re: Slosh Tubz new company project "Square Peg" frame laying 1987 GMC Jimmy

the window in the notch cover will have a removable access panel

Now that is going to be sweet!!! Especially that access panel can't wait to see how that comes out.

I know it may not be much of an idea but maybe you could incorporate your brand on the access panel and have it say Slosh Tubz Square Peg

Re: Slosh Tubz new company project "Square Peg" frame laying 1987 GMC Jimmy

i realy like it , you might want to cover the part next to the door at least partly in carpet , not leather , i suspect the kids in the back whont be able to keep there shoes of the sides
the carpet will hold up better to the abuse
you could do a flipdoor in leather on the top as well with a small compartment under it insolate it with foam and install a thermo electric element in the bottom and you could cool softdrinks in there

ok how about some progress, fellow board member AJ gave me these GMC letters to use, I think I am going to put them on the floor rise by the tailgate, unless anyone has a better script out of a tailgate including the indented area around the script ?

Started working on the false floor also, it will be covered in Bed wood and Parts, exotic wood ! Compressors and tanks and battery/air ride will all be hidden under the false floor
