^ That's a good thing. I recall seeing where one can't sit on some aftermarket tailgates for fear of bending them. If that weight is from extra metal, that's even better.

I totally agree and now want their bed sides for my short bed fleetside, but it does throw a monkey wrench in my aftermarket parts shaming

that's an excellent question, it is called a residual valve and it is needed for when you are using a disc front disc rear master cylinder with a truck that has drum rear brakes

Master brake cylinders for cars with (rear) drum brakes have an internal residual valve. Master brake cylinders for cars with four discs don’t or one with less pressure. Therefore adding an inline 10 lb residual valve is recommended. It prevents the drum brake springs from retracting the brake shoes all the way back and thus reduces pedal travel and improves brake pedal response feel

Ok, I thought so. I also thought those were only needed when the master cylinder is below the calipers/wheel cylinders to keep "residual" pressure on them so the brake pads/shoes didn't back off the rotors/drums too far. 2# for discs and 10# for drums. I could be wrong tho and someone else could chime in as well.

so lessons learned by doing any project any "build" the devil's in the details and you can get 80% of the big stuff done in 3 weeks and then spend months chasing the small stuff, so here we go, lets get it

I think it's a good idea to have a brake and an emergency brake before taking Electron for a spin around the block just in case things get exciting

so the new transmission seems to be longer than the TH350 or at least that's how it sits under the cab, so The Greg needs to extend the parking brake linkage 6"

on my '69 the driver side has the adjustable fine threaded rod like so

the other side the texter's side has a fixed length mushroom double headed rod which I decided to cut off one end and welder on a 6" grade 8 bolt with a standard hex head (this head has to be small enuff to fit through the hole / slot in the frame rail)

I think I used the belt and suspenders method on this, where first I weldered up the bolt to the rod, then ground that flat(ish) then slipped the steel sleeve over it and bugger welded that as well

got the new tailgate on, fit great, good quality piece, only trouble was the left (driver side) round hinge thingie had a bit of a slight imperfection in it that we gently persuaded with a punch to get the lower hinge to go smoothly inside it

My understanding is that brake fluid is hygroscopic so perhaps that vehicle had been in a flood or sumpin.

All the blasting and coating you do makes me want to get a cabinet and an old oven. Blasting and powder is something you can do all winter without worrying if your shop is warm enough to paint in. Or maybe move in next door to you =)

ha ha, it will change your life, but it is not a cheap sport, I would say minimum $2k to enter the arena, and yes guys will argue that till they are blue in the face, but I've done this for months so I know what I am talking about, lol

anyway I keep my media blasting cabinet outside so in my case media blasting is not an all year round sport as the media gets moist/wet

as far as oven advice see if you can land a larger commercial pizza oven or one of them stackable double deckers that you can start off by using just one half and then join them together to bake longer items

as far as moving next door, two words for you: H.O.A.

yeah, me too, my friend Patrick, our friend Patrick inputed all the measurements and lengths of both the Honda CRV and the C10 into his wrist watch calculator and it spit out that the stroke or piston travel is almost identical, it was identical to the thousandths of an inch

The amount that the piston moves compared to the amount the pedal foot pad moves is the same between the Chevy and Honda brake pedal assemblies. We haven't measured the stroke or bore of the Honda master cylinder yet. It would be good to measure the stroke and bore of both the Honda and Chevy master cylinders for comparison.

got some numbers:

SOME HONDA CRV MASTER CYLINDER SPECS

the 2018(ish) Honda CRV master brake cylinder piston is 1" in diameter (aka bore) and travels 1.5" (aka stroke) in and out of the tube thingie

meanwhile on this Two Steps Forward One Step Back update, we afixed the new used Honda CR-V master cylinder to the BOSCH iBooster and attempted to bench bleed it on the truck

so learned that it's best to reroute the front brake lines to the front of the crossmember when you pull of a disc brake conversion so spent a few evening fandangling with that

nothing like cutting up brand new parts straight away
