Well we drove a total of 3hrs at about 60mph to the track and back 150mi. I did 9 passes down the track and I see nothing wrong with the truck :)
Best pass was 17.649 @ 75mph with 8psi boost. I think the burn outs where the best parts of the pass. They sound great. Biggest et problem is I'm in overdrive before half track, but I didn't build a drag truck. I built a truck I can drag race. It gives me a base line now I can play on that. I'll have some video soon, here are some pics. :metal: Attachment 1542871 Attachment 1542872 Attachment 1542873 Attachment 1542874 Attachment 1542875 |

Bob, it looks like you're having lots of fun. I missed a bunch of posts for some reason, so I'll re-subscribe to your thread.
I saw this feature from the Unfinished Nationals. Some pics of your truck (and mine too, lol) http://www.stanceiseverything.com/20...hed-nationals/ |

Well this weekend will be the first time my GMC will be pulling my home made camper. We are going 120mi to a race track for fathers day to watch the Heritage Grand Prix. This will be our 4th year going and is a big family event for us. My trailer started life as a 18' boat trailer and I made it to be as aerodynamic as possible. It has a modified pull out couch bed at the back fold down bunks for my boys, a small sink with running water, stereo, 19" tv, LED lights, 2 deep discharge jell batteries, and a 25W solar panel works really well and is 2000lb loaded. I had to slice a piece of air hose to protect the clear coated bumper from the chains lol.

We are also in the middle of redoing our driveway, it needed to be done 4 years ago when I moved in. We ripped up half of the asphalt and Monday are putting down reclaimed asphalt. Then get rid of the old stuff.

Have fun on your trip! Because the drive way looks like no fun. That's a very nice camper trailer. Great work on it!

Re: My 52 GMC Build
That is a very cool looking camper! So, will the contractor grind up the old asphalt and use it for resurfacing?
|
Re: My 52 GMC Build

Re: My 52 GMC Build
Bob, that's a cool camper... very creative!. That pic of your truck in the garage reminds me that that's the space that you had when building it. My hat is off to you my friend! :metal:

Well 6.5 hrs pulling the 2000lb trailer to and from the race track almost went perfect. About 2 hrs in on the way there we where in some city traffic and I noticed the temp was climbing. We pulled into a gas station and the cooling fan was not on. As soon as I shut it off it just started to boil over. I had a 30A circuit beaker that failed some how, or bad connection (burnt my thumb on it). Lost about 2 liters of coolant. I put a 30A fuse in and it was good the rest of the trip. The truck rode better with the trailer and I didn't even know it was there. 15psi higher in rear and 10psi lower in front. I could out accelerate our full size Jimmy (support vehicle following me) and I used the same amount of fuel as the Jimmy (with no trailer).
We even got to do a parade lap around the track. Attachment 1545156 Attachment 1545157 Attachment 1545158 Attachment 1545159 |
