Got started on my body mount replacement project today. WOW! My mounts have been gone for so long! Started at position #5 and worked my way through position #4. No rubber left in any mounts to speak of, but plenty of rust. Drilled, cut, etc., and got all 4 bolts out! Still need to jack the body up and remove whats left of the mounts, shims, etc. On the good side, frame area looks really good. This is going to be a real project! Some pic's!Attachment 1266854

I have never seen body mounts without at least some rotten rubber in them! :)

Right on Swamprat! These have been gone for years, and I figured it was time to install the new poly set I have had for quite a while!

Thank's mx289! Been a long project so far, but I feel I have made some progress in the last year. Right now, saving funds for some new wheels and tires next! Oh, and trying to find someone to tackle the replacement bodywork panels. Any volunteers?

Getting ready to swap out my axle diff covers. When I swapped in the 14 bolt rear the gear oil fill plug was siezed in/stripped out. John had to weld on it to get it out. Been looking everywhere online for a replacement, and can't find anything. Any help here guy's? Anybody had to do this replacement? HELP!

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!

We always need new parts.

I just installed the same brace kit from ORD.
Fit good and its a solid piece.

I hear you on the bodywork.

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!

Right on Tom! I got the brace kit all painted and ready for installing. It just needs to stop raining here for a little while! As for the weatherstrippng components on these blazers. I count at least 20 that are needed. So far with the one's I just ordered from Brothers, I have collected 10. Getting there! Picked up some OEM, some from Brothers, some from Precision replacement parts. I won't know what I will end up using in the final resto, but am trying to stay away from the LMC stuff. Sad part is even after all new weatherstripping goes in, you still want to keep them inside in a hard rain right?

Got the stuff from Brothers. Looks ok, but I really don't know yet. Laid it out to stretch, we'll see how it flattens out!

Finally got around to working on the K5 again! Pulled the dana60 front diff cover and am draining all the gear oil. Let it drain real good, clean it up and install the new Ballistic cover! This time I got a gasket for it to make sure there is no leaks! Got some pic's, sure wish I still had a hoist!Attachment 1281944

Got the new cover mounted on the Dana60 front diff. Man, Ballistics covers are real heavy, hard to hold up there and line up by yourself! Used a new felpro gasket and a bit of copper silicone. I like it! Some pic's!Attachment 1282272

Got the front D60 refilled with gear oil today. Draining the oil out of the 14 bolt rear, after dropping the stock cover. Searched for a allen head wrench to fit the Ballistic Dana60 fill plug-- turns out to be a 14 metric. Gonna have to pick up a couple quarts of 85/140 gear oil to finish off this step! Got to get it done before this weekend--vacation!

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!

Got the 14 bolt rear drained, cleaned, gasketed, and resealed tonight. Need to rework my extended rear brake line bracket to fit the Ballistic covers countersunk holes, and should be good to go! Used a Mr. Gasket seal on this end w/a little copper silicone. I'll get some pic's up asap!

Got the brake line bracket modified to work perfectly. Rear cover is mounted and I am ready to refill the diff! Got some pic's of the cover installed and finished, also a pic of my 1" drop for my NP205 transfer case to help with the driveshaft angle. Originally I had used round tubing (as seen in earlier Pic's} to drop the case. Square tubing looks way better, and a stronger setup!Attachment 1284052
