If you're going to take this project on make sure you have plenty of wire in your welder, gas, flap disks, and patience. It took almost two full days but it's well worth it.

Re: Shrunken66Stroker's build thread.
Nice job Graig. Lot of work, huh? :metal:

Re: Shrunken66Stroker's build thread.
Yeah, after making templates, cutting, forming the pieces, it's basically two stitch welds all the way around the top of the cap. Then grinding and more grinding. Looks nice though.

Re: Shrunken66Stroker's build thread.
WOW, that sure does look good!! Now thats a lot of welding and grinding. I know I dont have the time or patience for that. Great job!

Re: Shrunken66Stroker's build thread.
Awesome job on the drip rail!!! What are the details on the steel use? How many hours?
|
Re: Shrunken66Stroker's build thread.
My first thought on seeing the pics...'wow that's alot of spot welds' great mods are worth the effort.

I made an engine hoist plate today out of 1/4". I'm going to have to get new engine mounts, because I'm going to buy the NoLimit rack and pinion conversion and in order for it to work I have to mount the engine in the rear holes. Once I get the mounts and rack worked out I can figure the headers out and make sure everything has clearance.

Great thread, apologize in advance if my question is answered some where in your build thread....I too have a long bed, just panels and rear end cut off, and want to know what is the exact length in front and back of wheel well? Basically want to have someone weld it up into shorty....ANy info would be greatly appreciated... Thanks, el_bole:ito: |

I cut the old trans member out today. I should have done it long ago but didn't know where this project would end up so I left it. No need for it now.

I stabbed the engine and trans back in to figure out the engine mounts. I'm going to a 4x4 shop tomorrow to see if they'll bend me a couple 1 1/2" chromoly 90's so I can fab them up myself. After I get the mounts worked out I'll get to the drive shaft, rack and pinion headers and fire wall.

Re: Shrunken66Stroker's build thread.
I was going to make my own mounts also. Looks easy enough. ;)

I'm checkin, but I don't know what it is. You could have taken the plastic off or is that part of the surprise?:uhmk:
