Re: GM Semis
That '60 in the middle is carrying a wild load. I wonder if it was just for "show".
Pretty cool picture though. |
Re: GM Semis
The '60s have the IFS yet. Remember my pop saying they pulled it all out of the school buses, to expensive to rebuild.
|
Re: GM Semis
A '58, two '59s, and three '60s equals seven, right?
That is a crazy load on the center truck that didn't get counted. So true, mostly smaller logs/bigger trucks now. Torsion bar in medium duty didn't fly it seems. I wonder if the older trucks are Dark Green and the later ones Medium Green. That's my bet. |

What year and model is it? 9500-ish?? |
Re: GM Semis
Somewhere between a '73 and a '77 9500, but I wish it had a better shot of the Grab Handle, lol.

This 9500 is a 71. It has dual headlights. I sure wish I had bought it when I had a chance. 671 with a 13 speed for $7,500.

Re: GM Semis
Beautiful truck, I'd be kicking myself too
|
Re: GM Semis
Pretty good price for a nice truck like that.
Did the Flat Bed Dump? |
Re: GM Semis
No dump.
The truck was perfect for a roll back. |

I see truck prices taking off now. You couldn't get much back out of them till more recently. That one is gorgeous. I had known of this one I ab-so-lute-ly love in CA, then it went up for sale at my worst time for money...for $7,500 also!!
|
Re: GM Semis
Of all the 9500's that we have shown here on the boards that truck above is definitely one of the nicest ones of the bunch. The price of $7500 was a steal.

It is also one of the nicest of the bunch. |
Re: GM Semis
For any body that's been paying attention to my stuff, I would need a red one.
Although, That green one would be hard to pass up. |
Re: GM Semis
I figure you'd have them painted.
|
Re: GM Semis
We just got one back from the paint shop.
|
Re: GM Semis
Some call it Victory Red but we know it's Davis Red, right?
|
Re: GM Semis
A lot of people around here call it that.

Cool to see one in big fleet livery... Roadway

Re: GM Semis
Roadway.
I thought those colors looked familiar, lol. Nice truck. |

Funny the truck looks to have a Chevy grille with 'GMC' letters on it. |
Re: GM Semis
I see what you mean about the grille. What is the reason for a cut down bumper? I think the present owner changed the stacks. I think I spy the tip of a driver side stack. I'd like to see that grille closer to see what they did
|
Re: GM Semis
Every once in a while we will see a GMC with a Chevy type Grille. The only sense I can make out of it would be they may have had a temporary shortage of GMC Grilles and they would just use a Chevy Grille in it's place, which is of course an exact fit, and put GMC Letters on it. Either that or GM may have had more than one supplier of Grilles and that's the way they may have made them, as rare as they are.

A quick search and they were produced from 74-81 for the GMC 9500, that's from the images I've looked at, could of been a year earlier or later. So not all GMC's got four eyes hehe:lol:

Re: GM Semis
The roadway truck above with the center bar may of happened between this time frame

The Roadway truck above is actually a '72 or older (Low Hood). For those that may be wondering, they made the High Hood truck to enable it to have a larger Radiator. |

Looks like it was a pretty good over-the-road hauler back in it's day.
Another early model (with a non-original signal light). |
