Agreed, and thanks for the support. School is picking up a TON of momentum. We had our first exam and I demolished the grading curve ...making 45 guys fail... :D
I was in class thinking.... "What would Allan Do?" You'd be proud... lol

When did we get our edit button back?

4. Technician A says that magnesium parts should be welded using a GMA (MIG) butt joint with backing.

Technician B says that when welding magnesium, a magnesium electrode wire should be used to help ensure good weld quality.

Who is right and why?

*Technician A says that a tailor-rolled blank may have different types of steel designed into each part.

Technician B says that a tailor-rolled blank is a seamless structure with varying thicknesses.

Who is right?

And if you catch your edit fast enough (within 5 minutes) you get your edit button back before it's permanent.:metal:

[threadjack]

In regards to structural automotive applications you are not allowed to repair or weld on Magnesium or Ultra High Strength Steel at all.

The tailor rolled blank is one seamless piece that has a hydraulic roller form it to create thin spots for crumple zones.
[/threadjack]
I'll take whodunits for 1000 Alan.

Where's pics?

Magnesium can catch fire? Am I right? I know VW engine cases are made of it, and will make a very bright camp fire that's hard to put out.

Yes magnesium will burn and the only way to put it out is to eliminate the oxygen from it.

So this is what you do on a Holiday Weekend? Man some people never get a break.
I was going to say you should at least have a bruski in your hand, but I remembered you don't do that any more. Have a good 4th.

Thanks Dave, my whole family was and still are wood workers, the ones that are still alive. I'm the only one to venture out into metal working. At least with metal if you cut in short you can weld it back together and start again. I'm sure she will love the new counter tops, but I won't like the price.

Everything came from Jegs except the parker fitting and the aeroquip fitting. They might carry it but not sure.
