Hey 77chris03, I feel for you man, My wife gets on me the same way. I just ask her if she wants to be married to a guy that starts things and never finishes them or one that has dreams and ambitions and sees them through. I also tell her that when I'm finished we will BOTH get the enjoyment and benefit from having a unique truck. The truth is I have been watching this build and I can tell that this is where your talent that God has given has taken you. Your attention to detail and persistence in the face of overwhelming obstacles (like rust) is something you should be really proud of. I hope you keep it and finish it! By the way, I really like your color choice and I'm even thinking of painting mine that color. Keep up the good work!...:metal::metal::metal:

this might sound a little gay, but thanks for the uplift. i told her that and she was like ya you have a point. she said she thought about it and that when she starts her 50 chevy project, she'll prob be the same way, just trying to get it finished.....i just needed to vent, thanks guys.

anyways.... i did get a set of headers coming and they should be here this week. also went and picked up a holley kickdown bracket for the 700r4, it came straight from holley...thats why it was so cheap...lol i paid 28 bucks for it while oreillys wants 45 and others wanted about the same. i dont think i did too bad. i got the day off from work because i gotta do a stress test on my heart...see what the hell is wrong with my ticker...sometimes it feels like it wants to come out of my chest...

i believe i figured out why it wont shift.....not enough tranny fluid....i fired it up, pulled it out and let it warm up....nada on the dipstick...oops...added a quart and she hit 2nd gear. now to adjust the tv cable so it doesnt burn up the tranny....hopefully my headers will be here tomorrow.... i did finally bite the bullet and buy new front signals... heres a pic....

Looks good man! And yeah, I think we all go through the woman problems stuff. They get over it after a while. Honestly I think they just need something to complain about and get jealous afraid you love the truck more than them! Shhh we won't tell! But keep up the good work man and you'll be done before you know it!

Low fluid will definitely keep it from shifting but not having the TV cable adjusted will also delay the shifts and make them excessively harsh when they do happen too. Don't drive it until you get the cable hooked up and adjusted. It can destroy a perfectly good trans in a very short time.

Try to get Brittany out in the shop with you so she doesn't feel left out or neglected, even if she is just hanging out watching & learning.

I had the same issues with my wife until I involved her in my projects. She doesn't do much work but we can still talk while I am working and she doesn't feel like I am cheating on her with the other woman any longer.

She's not really interested in the build process but she enjoys the finished product so she puts up with it. Mostly she just hangs out and plays around on her iphone but at least we are together. Occasionally I can get her to help out when I need a hand.

Surely not! Yeah that too, I got mine out and involved, and at the car shows, now she loves it. Still fusses about the money sometimes, but she also knows I need to buy stuff to improve it.

thanks guys...i got the front lights spliced and soldered to factory pigtails the other night and they work...but theres something wired wrong under the dash..or in the steering column harness. with all the lights off, the left blinker is on 100%of the time, and the same when you turn on the running lights, but get this, i pull the hazards, and it goes off...something on the ezwiring harness has to be mislabeled....guess its back to a meter, test light and trial/error till i figure it out.

Re: My 68 swb build.

i have a problem with the column and i cant figure it out. someone please chime in and help me out....heres what i got goin on...

steering column is aftermarket of course, but wires are typically the same color.

On the OEM pigtail i have White, green, yellow, purple, brown, d. blue, lt. blue and black. im assuming the black is the horn due to its on its own relay. someone correct me if im wrong.

on the steering column the colors are matched to the OEM pigtail...White, green, yellow, purple, brown, d.blue, GREY, and black.

When i pull the hazard switch out(suppose to be active on flashers) everything is off. (this is backwards, hmmm..)

When i push the hazard switch in(suppose to be off) my flashers come on.

With switch out, i have power on the brown wire, and with the switch in, i have hazards and all but the black and purple wire are hot, flashing with the flashers....nothing on the cluster works(turn signal lights) and the turn signal lever doesnt even phase a thing...

Re: My 68 swb build.

Well, I have no idea man. Have you tried posting that in the tech or electrical area? I'm sure one of the electrical guru's can help u figure it out.

Re: My 68 swb build.

I think I got it maybe....did some thinking and realized that the purple wire is supposed to be the hot wire not the brown wire which is the hazards according to the diagram I had the manufactured send me black..horn lt.blue..left front turn. D.blue..right front signal brown..hazard. Purple..turn signals main power. Yellow..left rear turn. Green..right rear turn white..Brake light

Re: My 68 swb build.

ok, the flashers and signals work now....but still dont have all the bugs.. i think i may have a short to ground on the cluster...reached my hand up there to put a bulb back in and it popped the fuse...replaced the fuse and its back to workin...but im not getting the signal indicator lights...

thanks...maybe a little cooler when its done...

the tone of the huggers vs the hedman headers is totally different...much deeper tone and no back fire!!
after i got the headers on, i drove the truck around the storage unit round and round until i heard it shift into 3rd gear and it was pretty smooth...and with these pipes theres a little more torque..
