Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
They call it PAINT PRISON. Where is your car? It is in paint prison.
Once it is there, you have a very hard time getting it out. May take a pardon from the governor. |

OK Agnes. Is it a side inlet or straight inlet? I'll wait for you to get the numbers.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
I spent a good portion of the last few days reading-reading-reading on which lock up style I want to use for my 700r4 conversion that is taking place in a couple weeks. Im either going to build a system , or modify a TCI set up with vacuum and a brake switch. Pulled the trigger and ordered all Lokar throttle, pedal , TV cable and brackets instead of using wrecking yard and fabbed stuff.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
I spent a few hours shoving, measuring & finding the right compromise for engine & trans placement. Then I cleared all the obstructions (should have done this 1st) and test fit.
Tomorrow, if I get time, I'll be welding... |

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
Removed the clunking rear Dana 45 that I couldn't get parts for and installed the fresh rebuilt 10 bolt from a 2 wheel drive 68 chevy truck. Added dropped blocks, new ubolts, brake lines, shocks etc. Just need to bleed the brakes and burn in the saddles after setting the pinion in the morning. Moved to the front enda after lunch. Pulled the stock axle and installed a 4.5 inch dropped Sids axle with new steering parts incl. New style tie rods. Have the tapered bearings kit and all new brake parts to install tomorrow morning. Should be driving it to lunch! Next weeked is the motor swap and 700r4 conversion whoo hoooo!

I have a 55 2nd and just used a Vintique kit + some modifications to convert my old headlights to quartz Halogen bulbs(new car style) if you're interested. I have pics.

It's reasonably simple and there are probably other ways to do it but here's what I did with a goal of being able to change the bulb without pulling the front off because that has the real possibility of changing the headlight adjustment which I didn't want. Cut the back off of the headlight bucket for access.(pic 1) Hole in seal beam holder/adjuster has to be ground out or cut out to 3 1/2" so H bulb fixture and grommet will fit through (pic 2) What modified assembly looks like (pic 3) Addition of a 4x4 CV boot for weather protection (pic 4) What the installed assy looks like (pic 5) The only difference is the lens is flat, not slightly curved like the old seal beam and I haven't trimmed the end of the CV boot yet and won't until I do the wiring loom. some may consider the boot overkill since the bulb is sealed from weather by it's own grommet but I wanted something since the assembly mounts in the fender.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
very very cool work - may have to borrow that idea - how much did you measure to cut off in pict 1 and what make model c v boot is that from?

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
I cut the as close as I could to the bucket flange and still let my cutoff wheel get a straight cut, then smoothed it up on a 12" disc, so there is no specific measurment. The boot fits very snug and only needs about an inch to fit tight. The boot is from late model 4x4 Chevys and Fords that use the independent front end and it's an outer boot. Neapco makes a replacement that is softer and more flexible than the hard ones the factory uses. Works good and no need for a clamp.
