I don't know alot about the ls engines besides having a 5.3 in my wife's Tahoe. By the little bit of reading I've done the bore is the same between 4.8 and 5.3, it is the stroke that is different. I don't know anything about the 6.0 except it can make a lot horsepower and poor fuel mileage.

Greg, where did you luck up and find that 4.8 for 75 bills? I knew where I could have gotten a 5.3 w/36,000 miles awhile back for $700.00. I would like to go that route, but I would like to go carb instead of EFI.

Hey Jeff how's it going. I found the engine on craig's list. The guy lives in the same town and delivered to me at work. I figured I couldn't beat that kinda of deal.

Sounds like a plan. I'm pretty sure you will do yours first. The engine is for my son, which is seven right now. We got ten years to get his truck going. By that time who know what kinda of powertrain will be out. I told him we are going to finish my '65 first. It has a 406/700r4 combo in it now but if the right deal comes along it also might have a ls engine. The 406 has a 520 lift cam and the older I get the more I want something practical instead of the go fast.

I found some old pictures of when I disassembled the truck. These are before digital camaras some the quality is poor. The last one is from the Move to Georgia.

Ok I got my cab back earlier this week after having the floor sheet metal replaced. Their is still alot of body work to be done but I could not resist putting the cab on the frame to see how it looks. It has been eight years since I tore it apart and almost forgot what it looks like. Here are a few pictures of the floor pan after replacement.

This is what it looks like at this point. After putting the cab back on I'm more motivated than ever to get it back on the road.

I'm still waiting to have my cab blasted. The local blaster had an issue with his compressor not working right. At the time I called he was working on getting it fixed, but that was 3 weeks ago now.

I'd really love to take advantage of this warm weather we're having.

Greg, it's looking awesome. It always feels like progress when it looks like a truck again. :metal:

Let me know how it turns out. I need to get my fenders, inner fenders, hood, and bed sides.

We went and ticked up this little "jewel" this weekend. Between the two 1968 trucks Evan should have a good start on his truck. This means I have about seven years to finish mine.

Re: Greg65 build thread

After thinking long and hard I decided to part out the above 68 awb. We kept the front sheet metal and bed for Evan's truck and sold the rest. This morning I delivered the frame to Chris(georgiachevydriver) and had an well deserved road trip. It's always good to get away from home for awhile. My old Silverado never missed a beat on the 400 mile trip. There is nothing quite like seeing the sun rise over the Summit racing building. Anyway had a good trip a extra cash to buy more truck parts. Life is good.

Sounds like fun. I love road trips. Did you go into Summit or do a drive by? Thanks for sending 95light my way. He picked up the frame.

My truck kept pulling to the right at the Summit exit. It was all I could to stay on I-75 north. No problem with the frame, glad i could help to forum members.
