Great job on the build. I love the fact that you are doing it all on your own. Keep up the good work!

Thanks Shannon. I'll have to lay those out.

I Did some work on the cab yesterday, ended up getting the interior scuffed and primed completely. I'm working on purchasing a piece of land to build a house on, so my mind (and wallet) have been elsewhere lately. You would be surprised what a small piece of dirt with some trees on it costs in "The Hamptons"!! I'm having a body guy come to help me out very soon, so hopefully this project will get moving again. Anyway, here are a few pics of the work i did yesterday. (time to upgrade the iPhone, these didnt come out that great)

Well, with the help of a professional (thank god), the entire cab and doors are in slicksand polyester primer, and ready to be sanded and shot with a 2k high build primer. He has been coming over a few days a week and i couldn't imagine getting all the work done myself. I really enjoy doing bodywork and learning how to do it right, but this truck is too nice to learn on. I should get an old jeep or something to practice on. I had him smooth out a couple areas to give it a little cleaner look too, like the door jambs and rocker panel seams. If everything continues as planned, we should be spraying COLOR by march 1st!! Fingers crossed for that, and here are some pictures

I like your cab dolly. I am going to have to copy that, If a guy had a pallet jack available now that would be slick too!::metal:

Glad you asked! The cab, doors, and steering column are now all in 2k primer (going to paint the column to match the interior). Hope to do some sanding this week, and hang the doors for final alignment. After that we should be able to paint this damn thing already! I have fallen behind the march 1st goal of spraying color, but im 99% sure i have the shade of green that i will be using. This is how it sits now, although it looks alot like the last picture i posted. If you look closely, the 2k primer is darker than the slicksand polyester primer.

Here is the green that i sprayed on the glove box to test it out. I think it looks pretty good. GM "Medium Green Pearl Metallic" PPG code WA9539. Common forest green color that is on 99-07 Chevy/GMC trucks. 1st pic shows the color much better.

Big update: WE HAVE COLOR!!! Finally got to spray some color on the interior. I have to say i was worried about liking the shade of green, but it came out awesome. I'm so excited to have a color other than GRAY to look at! Ended up spraying 3 coats of color and 2 coats of clear. The exterior will get 3 coats of clear, but we didnt feel the need to go crazy on the interior. After it was painted, i covered the floor with POR-15. Enjoy the pics

Re: 1972 4x4 Short Bed Project "Seven-Deuce"

I have another gap in pictures here, there are some more on another camera that I cant find the cable to. Anyway, only 2 months behind schedule, the cab and doors are completely painted. All that is left are a few areas that need wet sanding/buffing on the cab. I managed to get the cab set back on the frame with the only damage being some scrubbing of the paint where the door rubbers will go. (This is from the forks of the tractor when setting the cab)

This is such a huge step in the process of a restoration, that I find myself standing in the garage just staring at it.

I began working on the AAW Wiring harness, which is proving to be a little tougher than I anticipated. Mostly because wiring/electrical is not my strong point. I am constantly finding little detail parts that are missing, buried, thrown out or who knows? I suppose thats all part of it. Anyway, PICS!!

Re: 1972 4x4 Short Bed Project "Seven-Deuce"

Now some pictures of my progress on the wiring and interior.

This AAW wiring harness has got to be the best thing since sliced bread. There seems to be infinite options with it, and the instructions tell you EXACTLY what to do with the options your truck has. I really was intimidated by the electrical work because it hasn't been my strong point in the past. But if you go slow and read everything twice, next thing you know its half way done. I think all thats left with the interior is the stereo, dynamat on the floor, install the carpet, and install the seat and seat belts (that's all haha). I scored an awesome Tach/Vac cluster from the parts board, and threw a new bezel on it.
Here's' some pics

Pedals, glove box door, and column in. Anyone who reads this, dont put the column in before the cluster. Its a pain to put in, and i had to take it back out.

Flaming river column with all the billet trimmings :metal:
http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c2...ps7188e22a.jpg

Heres the cluster installed, man there are a ton of things to hook up to the back of this, with the full gauge package! (vac line, oil press copper line, tach harness) I'm really pumped about having no vacant gauge spots in my dash cluster! And if youll look closely, the key is on, and the 'Brake' light came on!! First sign of life in a long time, and i guess i did some of the wiring correctly!!

And finally, here is one of the 2 fenders that are done painted and buffed, also in the basement ready to be hung. I need to get cracking, i'm running out of room in the basement!

Nick, glad to see the progress. It's been a year now since my truck has been finished, and all I can say it's WELL worth the wait. Don't get frustrated or take any shortcuts. Your doing awesome, LOVE the metallic green as opposed to the flat on mine. KEEP IT UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:metal:

I really appreciate the kind words and encouragement guys. It is starting to take shape now. I usually work on it at least one or two days a week, but I never get around to updating this thread. It's nice to know a few people still follow it. I will work on getting some pics of the engine bay, all the wires are run and tucked away. Came out pretty nice.
