Hi all, haven't been on in a while due to school, but here's a shot of the Chevy. We started a 4x4 club which is actually pretty decent. Happy Halloween!

Thought I'd put in a before and current of mine, the original post doesn't do much justice. Rode my bike to Montana to buy this, put the bike in the bed, and drove home. This is how she looked coming home (minus the H-D plate on front). the paint job was as real cheapy, and you can see big bubbles popping up that when you peal them off, there's good black paint under. The 2nd pix is how she looks today with some bumps & bruises, and the new parts I can afford as I go. 1/2 ton with 3/4T springs...

gmc71k20 I have just a few other pics right now. I can tell you a few details about it. We took a '85 lwb frame and stretched it 10 inches, got rid of I believe 4" front and back of the frame, and got rid of all of the stock body mounts. We fabricated our own body mounts to the frame so that the truck would look right and not a cobbled up job. I think so far it has turned out sweet. We just got done painting the frame and test fit the cab to the mounts and it fits perfect and the wheelwells line up center to center just right. we put the bed on to get an idea of where the mounts need to be for it (easy part). I go back Thursday to my hometown to work on it. Plans over my xmas break are to get the divorced transfer mounted in a custom crossmember and the rest of the running gear installed. Then comes the axles which will really raise the truck about 2-4 more inches because in the pics of course they aren't in there but my dad said that where the axle meets the leaf springs needs to go up about a couple more inches. I can't wait to get home and see it..... I have been up here at school and my dad test fit everything last sunday. Drivetrain: 454, th400 out of 2wd to mate to the 205 divorce tc (the reduction of the driveshaft angles) axles: dana 60 front, corporate 14 w/ disc conversion rear, 44" boggers on 16.5 x 14 weld super single. Edit: has 14 inch 73-87 suspension lift and homemade 2-4" body (so the body would bolt up)
(this other pic isn't quite right... it was takin before my dad got everything level, but does show almost how tall it is ... a lil bit short but not much.... dad says somewhere around 45 inches to the bottom of the rockers when we put the axles on it) I will keep posting pics of the project if no one minds) Trevor |
