Re: '62 BBW SWB Highschool ride returns
Glad to see you found the filler neck. Is there a young lady trying to trade you a corvair for the PU???

A little buffing goes a long way.

Re: '62 BBW SWB Highschool ride returns
I just love shiny stuff
http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/c.../201201301.jpg Finally settled on seat belts. The first ones were too green. The last set are really dark blue, but it seems thats as good as its gonna get. So tonight after work I'll pick up some new bolts, and get them mounted. Then I can bolt the seat down, and finally screw the sill plate down. |
Re: '62 BBW SWB Highschool ride returns

Re: '62 BBW SWB Highschool ride returns
Doesn't everyone vacation there?
Actually moved it around in the shop last weekend. Going to pack the camping gear up for the winter, and clean out the rest of the garage so I can work on it again. As soon as I get back from Alabama, North Carolina, Mississippi, and South Carolina. Posted via Mobile Device |
Re: '62 BBW SWB Highschool ride returns
Ok. It's time to get this thing done, and out of the shop. I'm tired of walking around it. I put the motor in a few years ago. It was a brand new crate motor from Chevy. We cleaned it up, and re-shot the block & heads. The last time I painted the Edelbrock intake orange, but this time I sand blasted it, and gave it a light coat of aluminum paint to help protect it.
http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/c...pse6e2ab67.jpg The steering column was swapped a long time ago for one out of a buddies wrecked '69 Cutlass. It had seen better days. The turn signal thingy was broken, the starter switch worked most of the time, and the horn button was DOA. I took another column I had, and gutted it for the electrical. Sand blasted the 'original' column, and painted it to match the truck. Now I just have to get a steering wheel. I'm thinking of one of those old style chrome 3 spokes with a metalflake white grip. Just to add a little bling to it, I made a new turn signal lever. The old one was rusted, and ugly, so... cut the end of a Titanium NASCAR valve off, turned it down a bit, and stuck it into a carbon fiber arrow shaft. Cut that off, and stuck it over the original lever. Bet I got the only Titanium / Carbon Fiber turn signal lever out there :) http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/c...psab0b9d5e.jpg Rebuilt the Holley Carb that was on it (650 vac secondary). So last night I set it up on the bench, and hooked up an electric fuel pump to it. Good thing I did. The inlet needle on the primary side didn't want to seal. Swapped it out, and set the float levels. Tonight when I get home (if there isn't a puddle of gas under it) I will be putting it back in place. |
Re: '62 BBW SWB Highschool ride returns
Wow, then you can get to work on your crew cab, airplane, corvairs, race car and bmw's. then you'll have some room in the shop.. :D

Re: '62 BBW SWB Highschool ride returns
Spent a little more time on the truck. Got the inner fenders and radiator support sand blasted, and welded up all the old holes everyone has put in them.
http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/c...ps1018bbad.jpg Even fixed a little rust that was in the lower mounts for the radiator support. http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/c...psdc0de5ec.jpg All sitting in epox primer now. http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/c...psc05de40c.jpg This weekend hopefull it will get a skim coat of bondo, and some flat black. |
Re: '62 BBW SWB Highschool ride returns

Re: '62 BBW SWB Highschool ride returns
Got a little more done this weekend.
http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/c...psc05de40c.jpg I kinda like the shine :) http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/c...psc0893e61.jpg http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/c...ps0cea90d5.jpg Just gotta wait for them to dry now. Then I can put them on. While I was waiting, I was playing around with the steering, and noticed that the Pitman Arm was shot. Couldn't believe it but NAPA had the best price in town for a new one. So, without even having to lay on my back to reach it, I was able to change it in 10 minutes. Now every wiggle of the steering wheel = a wiggle of the tires. Can't wait to drive her again. |
Re: '62 BBW SWB Highschool ride returns
Nice work here!

Re: '62 BBW SWB Highschool ride returns

Re: '62 BBW SWB Highschool ride returns
Ok. I'm back. Race car is together and running good, quit my job (of 20+ years), and started a new business, cleaned up and sheet rocked the garage (so much nicer working in a bright room, instead of the dungeon it was. So now its time to get back to the truck.
Just cleaned the cab, and started putting the engine compartment back together. http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/c...ps912d7528.jpg http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/c...ps59546782.jpg |
Re: '62 BBW SWB Highschool ride returns
It's good to see you back on your truck
What type of business did you start? |
Re: '62 BBW SWB Highschool ride returns
Big change for the shop, where did you hide all the parts and goodies that were hanging on the wall? Looks like there is room to walk on the floor now too.

Re: '62 BBW SWB Highschool ride returns
A little more progress to post. I sent the last of the cab parts out to be sandblasted. Got them back 2 days later. Very nice to see there was not much rust. But why is it that the only holes I needed for the mirror were brazed shut.
http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/c...ps6a4e1fff.jpg While none of the others were.... Now you see them. http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/c...ps980213ab.jpg Now you don't. http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/c...psff348802.jpg A little grinding... http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/c...pscfcf234f.jpg and they're all gone. Everything got a nice coat of Epoxy Primer. http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/c...psf45f577b.jpg In my makeshift paint booth. http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/c...ps9ff63943.jpg |

Re: '62 BBW SWB Highschool ride returns
Got a little more done. Drivers door, and hood have been blasted, cut, welded, bondo'd, and primed. A little block sanding, and they are ready for color.
