Yeah as long as it stays this price for the next 5 years until I finish my build.:lol: I'm not 100% satisfied with it though. I was actually looking at your pics today in your build to see how you hid yours. I may cut this one down a little. I've got to install a hitch first to see how much will show. Are you going to paint yours?

not gonna paint it right now... do you have a hitch? There are two near me for cheap...

YOu could fill that sucker up and use it for surplus for your other vehicles!:lol:

I think mine will be nice and hidden behind the hitch. We'll see in the spring when I put it all together...

I have seen those powdercoated and they looked sharp.

You have to overlook those "flyboys". They've spent too much time with their head in the clouds and the lack of oxygen to the brain makes them that way.:lol::lol:

I disassembled the bed here a while back and junked the bedsides. They were shot beyond feasible repair. I kept the tailgate for the inner parts, but it'll be scrapped as well eventually. Believe it or not the steel bed floor is in good shape, so I'll reuse it and the wheel humps.

I'm sure you saw the new bedsides and other parts I bought off of craislist. I owe that deal to my neighbor Alan.:metal: He sent me the link for the ad.

The replacement cab is in 10 times better shape than my original one so that'll help with the bodywork part of the build.

Once I figure out what I'm doing everthing will be ok.:lol:

:lol:I think it was excessive G forces, pushing the blood outa their brain, but who really knows what causes them to act that way. Maybe it's because their "bullets" are bigger then us grunts:lol:

I like the detail you're putting into the frame, power train, suspension so far, amazing what we buy to start with as our 'projects'

I know what you're talkin' about with fumes, I've bin "TOLD" several times by the lovely lady I cohabit with:lol:

I'm learning as I go thanks to this board. I'm basically doing this truck as a tribute to my grandfather. He had a '72 2wd olive green one.


I was there from '92-'96. It was my primary duty station, but of course being a grunt (0311) I travelled all over....Japan, Korea, California, Alaska, Cuba, Australia. I kick myself in the butt for getting out because my 20 years would've been up in 3 years.

Nice tribute to your Grandfather, mine is being built for my Father. My '62 Chevy was stolen from in front of my house on Mother's Day, we found it later in a train station, a total write off...I went off to boot camp, then ITR, came back home on leave after about 6 months and there sitting in our driveway was my '62 all painted and restored. Of course it had the factory tires and hubcaps, which I quickly switched out for Crager S/S's and wide tires, but he did have all the rest of the car right

That's a pretty cool "bitter-sweet" story about your '62. I can only imagine your reaction when you got home and saw it in the driveway.:metal:

I was able to get the 350 painted this weekend finally. My wife and daughter went shopping Saturday so I was able to "stink" up the house with paint fumes.:lol: Of course when my wife got home she asked if I had been painting or not. Oh well, at least it's painted now.:metal:

It turned out pretty good for a rattle can job. I didn't paint the valve covers because I'm replacing them.

I don't see any runs, or sags, so I'd say it was a success. Gotta luv a SBC in chevy orange:metal: Time to hang it between the frame rails?

Yeah, I took my time painting it to avoid sags or runs. I ended up spraying the primer and orange in 3 light coats each until I got even solid coverage with both. I waited about 20-30 minutes between coatings. I admit I wanted to spray it in one coat, but I had to remind myself to take my time. It turned out really good if I do say so myself.

Been there, done that. I get antsy with paint, and I remind myself to slow down or I will screw it up:lol:

I used the POR and I am not sure if it as orth it or not..............yours looks good and a lot cheaper and easier.

I guess time will tell on the POR

Thanks for the compliment. I just hope it doesn't "run" off when I fire it up for the first time.:lol:

A lot of members have used the POR engine paint with good results so I'm sure yours will be fine as well.
