Chief:
Not what I would expect as a site Moderator, but I know you don't mean anything by that. Don't get offended because I like to preserve the vintage looks/lines of the 4-5-6 Chevy trucks...In all honesty, what you guys are able to do is pretty amazing and I admire the skill and creativity required to do the things you do. I admire the work done by you and many of the other customizer/fabricators and I respect the expertise offered by you and the others that customize their 4-5-6 Chevy trucks. |

Re: Where are the stockers?
I always thought "stock" was when a vehicle has the same equipment and appearance as it had when new. It should resemble the look when the guy at the dealership handed the keys over to the original buyer. For a clue, look at my avatar.

Re: Where are the stockers?
Yeah, i would have to agree, the term "stock" is used many times when it doesn't fit. changing wheels, color, upgrading suspension, upgrading brakes, performace parts, or adding after-market goodies nullifies "stock"
guess you could even say that using re-popped parts would alsohttp://www.alaska4x4network.com/imag...smiley-013.gif |
Re: Where are the stockers?
I have a 2000 Chevy Z71 Tahoe with aftermarket wheels on it, but I would consider it stock.
I have done many upgrades to my 4-5-6 Chevy trucks, utilizing good, used factory/OEM/NOS parts, with few exceptions. If I get real crazy, I might replace some factory bolts with the same style, but stainless steel. Maybe the disparity is in the words "stock" or "factory original". I have viewed thousands of 4-5-6 Chevy trucks over the years that are titled "stock" only to see that there are mismatched dash knobs, later model seat belts, steering wheel, seat, foot pedals, radio, etc, to name a few. I am not into splitting hairs, but I consider something stock, if it was available during the production years of said truck. For the most part, many of the accessories available on these truck was dealer installed from a kit supplied to the dealer. If a truck has been smoothed, lowered, slammed, channeled, chopped, dropped or butchered, I don't consider that in the stock category. This post was intended to allow others who lean toward the stock/factory look/fit/finish, to post their trucks, not to decide what constitutes stock. I bet a Thread entitled "What is Stock" would generate a lot of interest. In the meantime, I am hopeful that more members will post their examples of stock 4-5-6 Chevy trucks, as this thread was intended. |

Re: Where are the stockers?
I really don't see the need to bring quotes from other threads to hi-jack another so you can make your point.

Re: Where are the stockers?
Very true but stepping in and saying something like that or me adding something like i am will just get stuff all riled up and the thread will be all jacked up anyway so whats the point
