Well yesterday I played around some with the truck.
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...=361556&page=2

Tonite I replaced the rotor, replaced the alternator since my pretty chrome one was bad, went ahead and swithced out the Edelbrock for a Holley and finished breaking in the cam on the 283. Man she sure does sound good.

I would rather cut them out of my yard than out of my living room after a hurricane. Some were diseased and the pine sap was hurting the paint jobs on the vehichles. The wood will be milled into #2 pine and the trees will be replaced with more trees native to Florida.

When I first moved to Idaho I had my brother-in-law cut down a few huge and ailing trees within falling over distance of the house. Everybody thought I was nuts, until the next winter when a few roofs were caved in from snow and storm related trees falling over.

Doesn't that suck. I had a chrome Powermaster alternator that lasted a little over a year. It starting doing weird things for several months before failing completely. I was debugging everything in the system until I finally realized it was my nice new shiny chrome trinket. After that I just got a stock looking one that works.

Hi Jake, I remember!! Are you going to wait and have everything painted at once, or paint the pieces as the prep gets completed?

Yeah and since that was the first time that I had started it up really sucked.

Mark,

Were going to have her painted in Pieces, because of the two tone pattern and the sharp break line the painted said it not hard at all but his shop in too small to take the whole truck.

The color and factory correct two-tone pattern we selected is:

THE BODY
Roof - Canyon Blue
From roofline to Body Break - Olympic White
From Break to bottom -Canyon BLue
Rims, bumpersm barbell -Olympic White

THE INTERIOR
Standard silver (factory)
Charcoal Dash
Grey and White (after market seat covers
Rubber Floor Mat
Silver and black knobs

INTERIOR OF BED
All componets will be semi-gloss black, strips, wood, side and wheel tubs.
Not 100% authentic but will look better than the factory color.

I'll Following the same paint patters as below only in Canyon Blue

Swapped some wheels on the white '64 GMC, to get it ready to sell and pecked away at replacing some floor pans on a customer's big window cab.

Yesterday, I overnighted a cashier's check for my ebay truck. Today I found on Amazon.com several reference books. I took autobody many moons ago in high school, so I bought a refresher book for that, I bought the "How to rebuild a small block chevy", even though this supposedly won't need it, I bought "How to restore your Chevrolet Pickup", as I heard it has some good tips, and I bought the CD Books "1963 thru 1966 Chevrolet Trucks Factory Shop Manual on CD-rom" for it's reference material.

Depending how far you are going to go on a restoration, the Factory Assembly Manual can also be helpful. It's mostly line drawings showing how everything is put together. If you're going to be doing body and paint work, you might also want to check in at:

http://www.autobodystore.com/home.shtml

Particularly the forum. I've painted 20-30 cars in my lifetime, but a lot has changed, and the guys on the site are every bit as helpful and knowledgeable as the guys on here. The guy that owns the site Len Stuart has owned a body shop operation for decades and evolved into mostly high end custom work. He's really smart and helpful. I also bought his Spray Painting 101 dvd and it was a great refresher with a few new tips that made it worth the money.

Cool thanks for the tips, I love your interior!

I have been reading a lot the last few weeks here, still trying to get up to speed, a lot of great builds going on here!

Just Jack up your truck to take all the weight off of it loosen your lower ball joint and smack it with a mallet. You should be fine. It's not like a strut that's under alot more weight

Took the stepvan to the local DIY carwash and cleaned the engine, tranny and suspension. Disassembled the top half of the steering column looking for why the 3 speed column shifting is so troublesome.

Changed the oil from the cam break-in. Went with the 2-quart NAPA Gold filter, changed the battery cables, started to put the new u-joints in until one of them broke when installing- never had that happen before. Took out the defective heater core. And took some pictures.
