Thanks everyone.

No pictures this time, camera is dead. I finished up the sunroof hole and threw some filler on it. Doesn't look very good, but I can work on looks later. I welded the stake pockets shut and painted the bedsides. Also finally found a good hood and painted it quick. Hood will go on as soon as I find time to go to the auto shop on base and sand blast the hinges. Windshield goes in on Thursday and placed a order with CPP for some suspension parts today. This thing might be on the road for Crusin' the Coast!

Hood on, Side marker light fill finished, gas in the tank and hooked up the throttle cable. All systems go for start..........................and then the fuel pump goes out :banghead: 15 min after all the parts stores closed :banghead: Hopefully tomorrow!

Two fuel pumps later we're in business, truck runs pretty good. Smokes a little, but for how long it needs to last should be ok. Today I got all the lights working, just need to work on the horn and this thing should pass inspection. Tomorrow it comes out of the garage for the first time since January....will post pics.

Thanks everyone, there is no way I could have made it even this far without this board and it's members.

Whats next? Well last night I got the back bumper on. After I get it inspected I'm going to be driving it and just doing weekend projects, but I plan on a drop, different motor and trans along with a actual bed floor.......this thing still has a lot of work to be done!

Re: '72 Chevy SWB, Project Driver

Back bumper on and I pressure washed 20+ pounds of crap off the engine and rest of the truck. Still need to finish cleaning the engine bay.

Re: '72 Chevy SWB, Project Driver

Thanks everyone. Why the 68 front clip? I've always liked the 68 front end the most and my 72 front end was junk so what better time to get what I wanted..

I'll get some pics of the filler tomorrow, too dark right now. The caps came from lugnutking on epay. They were about $5 each. The truck still hasn't made it very far from the house. Still need to check trans and rear end oil and pick up some more antifreeze.

Re: '72 Chevy SWB, Project Driver

Took her on her first trip out of the housing area. Made it to the gas station about a 1/2 mile away and back. I still need to work on the fuel filler a bit. It leaks a little where I took a slice out of the exhaust adapter to re form it and make it so 1.25" OD hose could slip on. Also need to adjust the choke, but other than those two problems she drove great.

It really needs to cool down around here, I'm sick of the camera lens fogging:lol:

http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m...y/P1040848.jpg

http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m...y/P1040849.jpg

All I did to mount the hinge was grind two small notches for the original hinge blots to sit. Nice and solid, no need to weld any for the hinge. I did need to bend the hinge slightly to get the lens to sit right.

http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m...y/P1040850.jpg

The welds are ugly....I was having problems lol. The filler is mounted using a strap of 1/8 steel and then the strap is screwed to the bed. The filler "bucket" is just mounted to the filler, not screwed in at all, but it fits good and solid.
