Trucks looking good except for that front tag. Ha Ha. What tire size are you running on the front? I like the stance.

Re: Stealth_Weapons 63 project

The gear ratio code, date, and rear axle assembly plant are generally stamped into the right (passenger side) axle housing facing forward and exact locations may vary slightly...check that out and you can find out the codes although at some point you'll want to make sure to check the gears out by pulling the cover because they always could have been changed.

Re: Stealth_Weapons 63 project

thanks but, there are no gears in it and only 1 axle shaft. I got it for free and I need one for my rear disc conversion. I will see if I can find the info on the housing. I plan on building a good rear for the truck and this is my starting point

Re: Stealth_Weapons 63 project

here is what I found. I could barely read anything. it appears to be A(D) W2(3)5 2E. not sure about the D or 3 the others were somewhat legible

Re: Stealth_Weapons 63 project

So I took my son to a car show in Marshall MO. today. the category we were in was Trucks '79 and older. this was a huge category with about 10 trucks in it. we ended up typing for 3rd place!!!! here are some pics between sessions of rain.
http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/n...psf2d8b2b5.jpg

the truck next to us won 2nd place (search "Fools Gold" to see his build on this site)

here is my almost 7 year old son with his first plaque for placing in a show!!!! the plaque says "special interest 3rd place" because it was a tie and they obviously didn't have multiple plaques for ties. we were assured we would get the correct plaque in a week or so. either way we were ecstatic to place in such a large category

Nice build ! And really cool that you get to enjoy that time with your son...I've been taking my boy to shows for about 10 years now, (he's 14), the time just blows by...For the time being at least, he still wants to go with me, and I'm glad to have him along...Much luck to you with the truck...

Re: Stealth_Weapons 63 project

my boy will turn 7 next month and already knows this will be his truck. so with that in mind i have decided that i will take care of drivetrain and suspension but the paint and wheels and most of the interior will be up to him... there is no telling what he will come up with for color. i printed out a few black and white drawings of the truck and let him color them to see what it could look like some were way better than others. Only time will tell.

Neat 'ol truck! There's a guy down by you that's an LS genius. You should come up to the Nationals in Sept. Always a great time! Lotta local LS help as well. Do it, you won't regret it. The hookup for me was Kent Roberts at LKQ in KCK, 1-866-478-2164 Full takeout is the way to go!

Re: Stealth_Weapons 63 project

so I got a call from a friend, " hey, I have a set of 20 inch Torque thrust and 285/50R20s that may fit your truck"
so I took off like a rocket to his house;
http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/n...psawvzhah2.jpg

so then we proceed to remove my 15s and found our first problem;
http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/n...psx5rrn7jr.jpg
http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/n...psqzc5vvrq.jpg

I couldn't get anywhere near a full rotation on the steering wheel... so I got to thinking and pulled out my phone, found a wheels size calculator and BAM!! a 235/45R20 tire should be a perfect size....sweet, moving to the rear

http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/n...ps2nk2suqy.jpg

this is where I gave up.... the rim didn't fit... WTF.... turns out these rims have a 3" bore.... my hub is 3.5".... I don't like spacers or adaptors nor boring the wheels to fit....

so back to the drawing boards.... just though I would share my and my sons heart break with you guys. he was so excited thinking he was gonna get rims for "his" truck

Re: Stealth_Weapons 63 project

you could also have the bore on your rear axles turned down to the size you need
