Re: DURG's Black 65 C10

I have pretty much wrapped up the rear suspension now. Not shown, but I now have the frame side panhard bar mount tacked in so I can check it at my final ride height. I have installed a weld in plate on the inside of the frame rails at the 4 link front mounts, and another one that bolts to it so I can install bracing from the center Porterbuilt crossmember similar to what Nate did on the coilover version he has posted on his site. It will all be removeable when done. I had to trim a bit of the upper coilover mounts to get the upper spring seat to clear, and modify my frame side panhard bar mount a little. The picture of the whole truck is really close to actual ride height which is just what I was looking for with this static drop suspension setup.

I set the bed back on this afternoon and scoped out the bed situation. Pretty sure I will raise the entire bed and stick with wood and strips. Looks like a 5-1/2" raise will do it. The 3rd cross sill back won't stay there as the trailing arms are nearly touching hit at ride height.

are the black steel wheels going back on?or are you going with the grey coys?

Re: DURG's Black 65 C10

I sold the black wheels as they were 6 lug to a friend who has them on his '59 fleet. I ordered the gray 20 and 22 inch Coy's exactly 3 MONTHS ago today. It took me awhile to get the ones for my Impala too, but not quite this long. Last story was the first week of September. I will call again next week for the latest. I can't move the truck around until I get some wheels as everything I own is a different bolt pattern.

I have a spare set of 5 on 5 wheels if you need to move it

Re: DURG's Black 65 C10

Bo you think they will fit with the large 13" front rotors and calipers?

Re: DURG's Black 65 C10

ohh, I didn't think of that, they are 15 inch wheels so probably not, sorry

Re: DURG's Black 65 C10

Not a whole lot of progress. I got some steel to start on the bed raising. I am raising the bed floor about 5-3/4". The only thing I have done is mark the location of the top of where the floor support structure will be, made another duplicate rear lower sill, and cut some of the pieces that will weld to the inner bed walls.

Not a lot of time on the truck today. Still plugging along on the raised bed frame.

Well I have the tired 327 that came out with the turbo 350 auto tranny but... I will probably go with a 350 or 383 GM performance crate motor and the turbo 350. Not sure yet but it will be a first gen SBC.
