Re: 63 SWB C10 LT1/4L60E Swap
Looks nice, did you keep it from going into the bed, or how does it look from in the bed?

Re: 63 SWB C10 LT1/4L60E Swap
I had to take it into the bed. I have not worked on that part yet. On my last 66 I used a suburban bed panel and didn't need to enter the bed. I'll build around the setup and post pics. Here's what I have in the bed.

I had to do a little catching up on your build thread. I can't believe what you did with that bedside. You sir are a true metal working craftsman

Motor,
Real nice job on this truck! And thanks for putting it on here. Seeing work like yours makes me appreciate how really bad I am at doing a lot of the work I'm doing on mine. Tom |
Re: 63 SWB C10 LT1/4L60E Swap
Made a cover for the fuel lines in the bed.
http://i1280.photobucket.com/albums/...ps14bffcfd.jpg Test fit in bed side. http://i1280.photobucket.com/albums/...ps87a46f05.jpg My Anal self kicked in and I couldn't stand the bed rail being removed with the suburban tank so butchered it up. After all the work I've done to this tank I should have built my own out of aluminum and been the way I want. http://i1280.photobucket.com/albums/...ps26fa762a.jpg Posted via Mobile Device Posted via Mobile Device |

Thanks for posting those pics of your bed repair.
Nice work. It gives inspiration to me to work on the fleetside bed I acquired last year. It needs similar repair. Posted via Mobile Device |
Re: 63 SWB C10 LT1/4L60E Swap
Installed a wiper motor from a 72 C10. Bolted right in and gave me a two speed motor.

Got bored and made a battery hold down bracket.

I am so glad I read you post about the steam pipe. I understand you have to vent this. Do you think there will be any problems with venting it into a closed heater pipe? I don't see any big problems with the way you did it and I plan on following your lead.

Re: 63 SWB C10 LT1/4L60E Swap
That is a lot cleaner. I got some stuff from the hardware store and got my vented. Been driving quite a bit and haven't had any issues. I need a overflow bottle now it seems to spit a little water out when I let it idle sitting still for 30 minutes or so. I think it is normal. Just spits a little..

That is similar to the one I am looking at. I am glad to hear that this may fix my problem.

Re: 63 SWB C10 LT1/4L60E Swap
Haven't done much lately, busy at work. Did manage to find the time to install a new aluminum tranny pan today.

Ordered a whole bunch of patch panels from Top Banana. Santa's big brown truck delivered them the other day so off to repairing the rust. I got inner and outer rocker panels, toe kick panel, cab corner, fender braces and patch panels.
I started on the fender. The PO had installed a patch panel and did a really bad job, installed crooked, and of course it was the same size as the new panel. So cut right where he tried to weld it. He ground so much the metal is paper thin and blowing thru when I weld in a few spots, so more patching. |
Re: 63 SWB C10 LT1/4L60E Swap
Had problems with my mobile photobucket app and had to delete it and reinstall. Guess that messed up the photo's on my build thread. I'll see if I can fix it when I have time. :waah:

Re: 63 SWB C10 LT1/4L60E Swap
Finished the patch panel install on drivers fender. I'll strip the old paint and epoxy primer the fender.

Re: 63 SWB C10 LT1/4L60E Swap
Got the fender all stripped. Found some rust at the front of fender. Repaired that and put POR15 on back side of fender.
http://i1280.photobucket.com/albums/...pshcleaqsh.jpg POR15 on inside of fender. http://i1280.photobucket.com/albums/...pswwchwngx.jpg All ready now. I'll wait to epoxy prime when I finish the passenger fender and paint together. http://i1280.photobucket.com/albums/...psaz2bggcw.jpg |
Re: 63 SWB C10 LT1/4L60E Swap
