This post is of my bed mounting idea.
I will not be using the O.E. components for mounting the reason being i wanted to have a better way of mounting bed to frame and easy to remove. I will use a solid sheet for the wood and dress it with metal ribs. |

This is the tube structure I built. I used 1x1 tube and made a frame then made legs coming down to chassis. the feet of the legs are then bolted to the chassis. the bed is then bolted to the frame i built. so if you need to the entire bed can be unbolted and removed with out the frame or keep the bed bolted to the frame and the bed/frame can be unbolted from chassis and removed..

Re: "Project Orangepeel" 52 A.D
Great idea. Do I see flanged nuts welded into the frame?
|
Re: "Project Orangepeel" 52 A.D
Of course you you do! haha we have been doing this for sometime now makes it very easy to mount things and if you strip it out grind the weld and replace it.

Here is a degree locator (Dad ran this off for me on the Cad system) this will help keep all the holes the same spacing (I HOPE!!)

Yeah Jim clued me in on the flanged nuts for my project. Great idea that I am making use of. Thanks again Jim.
Steering wheel is a very cool direction...looking forward to see how you build the rest of it. |
Re: "Project Orangepeel" 52 A.D
That's cool. What's the diameter of your steering wheel? about 12 inches?
|
Re: "Project Orangepeel" 52 A.D
It is actually 15 " due to the connecting rods and the look I was after

Here is the stock G.M. column adapter it will be removed from a stock G.M. wheel. to do this there are spot welds on the flange simply drill out the welds and the adapter comes right off..

In this pic it shows the space between the adapter and rods so I will need to make a plate to take up the gap.
