I experienced a 72 K10 and a 57 SWB as a kid. Both were cool, but I wanted different. I had a 64 and then a couple of square body 4x4s. Now I have just my 71. Its simplicity is my favorite thing. This truck has factory discs, no plastic crap in the cab, no smog pumps, manual steering and brakes and a stick shift. These trucks were the pinnacle of "all you NEED and nothing you don't" whilst also ushering in the sport truck era I.E short bed 402BB trucks. They are the Michael Jordan of classic pickups. Mine is a bit rough now, but it's on the road, and I make it better every week!

I had gone to a tug a truck pulling competition and there was this beautiful 1968 k20 with a 12v cummins and a hoodstack. It was orange and white with white steel wheels and it won the competition. I have been in love with them ever since and now I own a 1971 but love the 1968 bodystyle more as you could tell by my username.

Late to post, lol, and I didn't read hardly any of the ones above, but I drove the '60-'66 style trucks for a continuous 25 years. The '67-'72 styles, which I really liked anyway, were more plentiful to pick from and were in better condition when it came time to get another one. I now have 3. A '68 C-30, a '72 C-10 and a '72 C-30. I have no plans on moving up anymore as '72 is the limit, lol.

In the early 90's my dad bought a 72 C10 ( Custom ) from a co-worker so that he could haul stuff to the new house. It was a slow move, we made many trips in that truck, and riding in the back with the stuff was fun. Luckily you can't fit 4 people in 3 seats.

After the move was finished, the truck just sat and eventually my dad gave it to me. I drove it around the field ( hobby farm ) since I was too young to take it on the road. I eventually traded it to a buddy for iirc a Pontiac straight-8 for a 50 coupe I had then. I was a dumb kid.

Fast forward to now, and I wanted another old truck. The 67-72s have really grown on me, plus the repop parts availability is awesome. That's a big one for me, because these trucks and even square bodies disappeared from local wreckers decades ago.

I think it's still the best body style to date for GM. Also my dad bought a brand new black 72' C10 stepside, that probably helped a little bit.

I have had a succession of collector cars over my working lifetime and for some strange reason they have all been 1971s, I guess because I was in high school back then and couldn't afford to buy anything. When I got the urge to own another collector car a few years ago I started looking at trucks because they were still cheap compared with most collector vehicles.

I spent a lot of time drooling over 1955-57 Chevy and GMC pickups but eventually realized that, although they are extremely cool, they are not modern vehicles from the perspective of comfort and safety. My research eventually led me to the 67-72 Chevy and GMC trucks. They have an unbeatable combination of attractive styling, modern conveniences and safety equipment, a robust market, easy parts availability and lots of interesting variations to pick through. When you add in the good fellowship found on this online community, who could ask for anything more?

I've always liked the 67-72 trucks growing up as a kid, wasn't really financially able to. Now that I'm in my adult hood age (lol), kids are almost grown...I'm able to start living out my dreams! haha

I learned how to drive in a 69 C20 that we had and used as a firewood/work truck at my family's cabin in western Pennsylvania. It was a bare bones truck, no power anything, a 350 with a 3speed and granny gear. I "bebopped" around that mountain for 10+ years in that truck until one day a 4 ton boulder rolled down the hill and totaled it. There wasn't much left of the body by this time anyway but after that, there was nothing but a crunched up pile of parts. I hung the :chevy: emblem,and the the center bar of the grill, on the cabin wall along with a picture of my father and I sitting on the tailgate. I was probably 7 or 8 when i first drove that beast, I had an old booster seat that we had snagged from a pizza hut in the early 80s so I could see over the dash, and wood blocks tied to the pedals. The memory of that truck is still fresh in my memory today, and that's what drew me to our beloved era of the 67-72s. I agree with the majority about our trucks/blazers, They have a timeless classic style and just enough modern, conveniences and safety to make them a great daily driver still today. I love a done-up show truck as much as the rest of us, but I personally like to see them still being used and driven regularly as they were built for originally.Once I became disabled, I wanted a truck to restore,but still drivable since its my only vehicle. Also something that was affordable, easy enough for me to work-on and maintain myself, And most importantly, has style! growing up and working my whole life as a 3rd generation painter/body tech, seeing countless identical cars and trucks everyday that are all the same, except for color, and subtle add-ons, I wanted a truck that stood out and had style, class, and says," Here's a real truck, made in the USA!" and that's what I have, for sure!

My dad had a 72 C10 (actually still has it rusting away out back) that I never thought much of as a kid other than being a cool truck. My grandpa bought the 69 I now have in the late 90's as a simple project to tinker with, I bought it from the estate because it was his truck. Other grandpa bought the 68 merely as transportation which I now have as he can't drive anymore. Purely coincidental but cool that everything fell as such that they all happen to be 67-72 and now I love 'em.

My wife's father died and we inherited it. I'm really happy that is is a Chevy. So far this year, I've upgraded to front disc brakes and replaced the camper shell (which will be installed in January). I've dropped about $6k in it this year. Now that the shell is off, I'm addressing the corrosion on the roof rail before the new shell goes on, as it is a cab-over.

Well I bought one as my first vehicle off a guy from work and I've loved them ever since. I think I paid 250 dollars for it and it was super solid. I wish I had kept that one.

Hi All, My draw to the 67-72 Chevy Trucks come from My Dad and uncle, From about 1975 thru 1983 I rode and drove with my dad and uncle (uncles truck-blue in color) hauling a sprint car across the midwest racing at some of the countrys finest dirt and asphalt ovals, I now own a blue 1972 c20 and loving every minute of it.

I learned to drive in my Dad's 68 CST. Loved that truck. Now I own a 68 the same color.

The look of the '67-'72 trucks have been a favorite of mine for a long time. I've strayed to newer and a couple of older ones, but I always seem to come back. My very first truck was a Dark olive green '70 CST 10 I bought in 1988. My Dad brought it up from OKC in '74 and daily drove it until 1984 when he sold it to a friend. When i turned 15, my Dad taught me to drive in this truck and i later got my driver's license with it. He even let me use it for my summer mowing jobs. When my friend bought it, he went all through it, fixing rust & repainting and added disc brakes & tilt. I ended up talking him out of it in '88 and drove it until '93 or '94. I went a few years and bought a rusty '71 swb 2wd, 6 & 3 ott. Kept that a couple of years and got frustrated when I was not able to get any help fixing the shift linkage and traded for something newer. Another few years passed and my Wife helped me find another, this time a '68 C10. I was so excited to be back in the driver's seat that I overlooked some important body issues & proceeded to get led down the garden path. I fought through it, never getting ahead of it and let it go for my '48 1 ton. The '48 was fun, but the 45mph top speed was not. I realized I wanted another and found my '72 Highlander in June of 2016. It needs some things, but I drive it almost daily and absolutely love it.

My grandpa's 71c10. Watching him wash and work on it. Taking his motorcycle out to kettlemen hills. Taking those fishing trips. Riding in the bed up to the mountains and around town.

The seed got planted with a truck my dad had when I was about 4 or 5 years old. He had a '71 or '72 Chevy C/10. I can only assume that it was a 350 (could smoke 1 tire), but I know it was a 3 on the tree. After that, it was magazine articles that fueled the fire.

When I was very young in the early 70's my Dad worked for Connecticut Light & Power Company. He was the foreman in his shop and he got to take home a truck. I got to see many a C10 and C20 pre 73. Even a K20 with a snow blade. He would also bring home a 70 Malibu wagon which was real cool. All of them were done up in power company colors. As a kid I did notice the body change in 73! Not bad but not great....

Both my grandpas bought new '67 C10's, I was 7 years old then so I spent a lot of time riding on those trucks getting fire wood, going clamming and camping etc. one was s stripped 250 6cyl 3ott no power options, the other a 327 auto, no power options. My first truck was a '64 step side, 327 4 speed. Then got a '77 SWB 4x4. Then a '69 K20 short stepper, yes shortened down. 350 4 speed No Spin 456 gears 36 inch tires. My girlfriend, now wife of 32 years help me buy the '69. It was a wood hauler, 4 wheeler, daily driver, I was the NWTPA truck pulling point class champion with that truck in 1985 (bone stock) the year my first boy was born. Then like others here, life happened, sold the truck, had a few other between then and now, but now have another '69 K20 LWB, 350 4 speed No Spin 456 gears 33 inch tires. Love this truck and will never sell it!

I had one on the farm. Learned to drive at 14 the back roads mostly with my dad. Once licensed drove it everyday to school. Learned to do simple maintenance mechanics, did body work, rebuilt a motor with the help of my teachers in school. Burned the tires off monthly. Did lots of drinking with buddies, found love lost love. Grew up. Fast forward to 2014 moved 2000 miles West to be closer to grandchildren. Bought an acreage. And started looking for a 67 Chevy truck. Joined this forum and with the wisdom of Coley and others on this forum found the 2-67's I have now. Affordable fun. I too desire the thrill of a swap meet and the food is second to none lol.

I was originally looking for a cheap square body to mess around with. When i saw the 67-72's I knew that was what i wanted instead.
