Looks great! Going with black powder?

That's been the topic of debate in the shop... since I want it to have an OEM feel, I am leaning towards 20% gloss black (a matte black look). Not sure yet

The matte black would get my vote!

Are you debating sheen or powder coat verses paint?

The sheen level of the powdercoat.... a 20% gloss still appears as a matte color but will also hide fingerprints/smudges. I agree JL, the matte black is in the lead, I still have 10 pounds left of anodized bronze but matte black I think will win.

I don't remember the percentage of gloss, but the satin black that I like and use on all my products is a number BK-08. I believe that is a Cardinal number?

BK-08 is a 20% gloss

the lower the sheen the less imperfections you'll show..
depending on the coating material most will/can add the flatting agent to acquire any finish you want.
the higher the sheen the higher the solids you have on the finish.. if you want a low sheen finish but the high solids shoot the gloss then add a finish coat of clear to what ever reflective amount you want to deaden the sheen
I could write a book on the issue of powder or paint,, but thats your call.. its something I've been doing since 1967

That's it....only '67? C'mon son, I'm sure if you keep at it, you'll get the hang of it eventually. Don't lose hope.

Good stuff, thanks for the info. Not always sure about lingo or how to get to where I'm going....but will know when I'm there:lol:

A little sneak peek....

Pressure washed the frame before sending to powdercoat. While at the powdercoater, they did an initial blast of the frame to get the majority of the crud off. After that, it was put into the oven and 'baked' raw, then blasted a second time... then off to powder.

Came out nice...

Frame looks nice… you sold me on powder, durable and clean. I don't know how many frames I've scraped, blasted, primed, sanded and painted but it's way too many. Another Ah-Ha moment. Thanks!:metal:
