Re: New LS Standalone Harness
at this point, with the Holley Terminator X system out, there is literally no need to go anywhere else. period

Re: New LS Standalone Harness
the holley kit is neat, but has nothing to do with this thread. even with the holley kit you'll still need a wiring harness.

Re: New LS Standalone Harness
lol, I've done enough LS swaps to know what it cost, I would even go as far as saying more than most here.
And I'll give you this, it is a great product for people that have never done an LS swap before and have no programming experience. But it's most definitely NOT the greatest deal in LS swap history. |

Re: New LS Standalone Harness
i still disagree. if power is truly your goal, then Holley does have a very good product, the Dominator series.
the Terminator kit is for the first-time users who have no ECM experience, no wiring experience, and are just plain uncomfortable with EFI systems. Brilliant move by Holley for bringing it to market because there is a large sector of the market that are just plain scared of computerized EFI systems just because the are uneducated on how they work. But to claim it's the "end all, be all" of LS-swap wiring/control systems is just silly. |
Re: New LS Standalone Harness
The tuning software for the Terminator is the same as the dominator, I know guys dipping I to the 8s running the Terminator. What the dominator doesn't have is an ECM and harness. Holley even said they plan to eliminate the LS swap competition with this setup

Re: New LS Standalone Harness
I guess ill never know how the terminator works...way to pricey for me,,,i can do it for much less than the cost of the terminator system and that includes a dyno tune, ecm unlock ,and a storebought PSI harness...so I don't see how they think they'll corner the LS swap market...
I started losing faith in holley when everything ive bought from them lately has (made in china) on it...price we pay for competitive pricing I guess |

Re: New LS Standalone Harness
Cheapest is reworking a factory harness by yourself from u-wrench-it and all used parts along with a mail order tune or a buddy who has credits that tunes for cheap. I have built factory, Microsquirt, EFI source Megasquirt MS3 plug and play LS1 with boosted and traction control as well as the holley systems and others. They all have their merit. to me it all depends on how big your wallet is and if you can or are willing to do/learn it yourself.
Does the Terminator have traction control capability built in or do you have to buy more parts/piece/interface modules? Megasquirt has it built in already. Last I checked, there are plenty of Megasuirt extremely fast cars running at Bonneville and Drag week competition that are beating the big boys. To each their own. |
Re: New LS Standalone Harness
("Like I said, if you are just going to swap an LS and drive it then the old way is perfect")
this is me...for now for performance, my next build is getting a LS3/TR6060...im not drag racing anymore, so a good dyno tune will be way more than ill ever need |
Re: New LS Standalone Harness
If you aren't here to convince anyone, then why are you still arguing that it's designed for something that it's not?
Holley itself admits on their webpage that the Terminator is designed specifically for stock to mild LS engines. Stock to mild is not performance power, again that's the Dominator's spot in the market. The Terminator is for beginners. p.s. one of my close friends is a Holley dealer. He is responsible for some of the fastests cars you've seen street racing on Monday night TV. So I've got a bit of insight that others might not. |

Anyway, I'm done here. This is starting to sound like the weekly cruise-in where the guy crawls out of his wife's mini van and proceeds to walk around & pick apart all the hot rods there. |

Re: New LS Standalone Harness
Sloppy mechanics on the tube is running a terminator X on his 8 for 8 project. Junk yard 4.8 with a turbo. Last video I watched he made 735 to the wheel. I think this platform also controls trans. Also lots of tuning ability without having to buy EFI Live or HP Tuners. I’m not siding with either one of you as I agree with both of you. Peace out.

Anything new to add about this harness?
|
Re: New LS Standalone Harness
Nope. My buddy decided he does not need me to help with his truck any longer and has not given me any feedback, However another buddy bought one for his 70 C10 too. Soon as he gets it assembled and running, I will post up.
