Thanks for following along guys. The sheetmetal was reassembled and fit nicely as does the top. The tub is in black primer and now separated from the frame, which is off getting sand blasted. The motor fired right up and purrs smoothly ( no roller rockers, just roller cam).
Still waiting on the rebuilt seat belts from Sharon's Web - family illness has slowed her turn around time. I've finally received my repro rear panels. |

Plan for the undersurface of the pan is to bedline it black together with the inner surface of the fenders.
I'm not sure what gear ratio to go with yet other than it wont be 3.08. Likely 3.73 or something like 3.55. I'm keeping the th350 and expect to use 33" tires. The th350 and np205 are being rebuilt at the moment. Allcan zero lift, stock height springs built to ride level with two rear passengers and a spare tire mounted in the correct location. |
Re: 1972 Medium Blue Highlander Blazer Resto
Took me a day to reply because my computer shorted out from all the drool. Pure NOS gold. Especially the hub dials. Right in line with what I expected from you on this build. So glad you caught a minute to post some pics. Can't wait for more. Loving it!

Nice blazer, I was kinda sad to let that one go but I have enough blazers and the one I'm restoring Has been in my family sense it was new. When you get that done if you ever make your way back to Montana you'll have to stop by. I grew up hunting out of that blazer.

What a coincidence. Just this weekend I learned that a board member has an old k10 of mine now in CA by way of Texas. |

Paint! Back to the OEM medium blue with the 521 white accents on the step face and wheel tubs that GM painted on this truck with the matte black on the dash top to match the dash pad. Eric and the guys at Mild to Wild really did a great job on the tub.
InLine tube sent 3/4t rear ebrake cables but the correct cables have arrived so the rear end can be buttoned up shortly and the axles and springs bolted onto the frame. |

Interesting with the white accents. Can't recall ever seeing one like it

Re: 1972 Medium Blue Highlander Blazer Resto
Thanks for the good words! It's a DuPont single stage. Looks really nice in person. The overspray with the white is intentional.

The smoking gun if you will is the pic from an original paint survivor of a jack decal upon the white paint of a rear wheel tub as shown here: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...&postcount=218 since these decals were not reproduced until recently and only available from member IronCanine (big thanks Brad!). |
Re: 1972 Medium Blue Highlander Blazer Resto
Looks really great Pete!
And thanks (again) for the great thread......I have referred to it MANY times for my build! Chris |

Re: 1972 Medium Blue Highlander Blazer Resto
I cant believe I missed this build Pete. I enjoyed your K20 build. So I just read through this one and love the attention to detail. Signing on for the rest of the build

Watching impatiently! Great work. |

Thanks guys for the encouragement! I've got more detail pics I'll post up soon. Just a quick update - we've got a rolling chassis. Axles were rebuilt with 3.73 gears and rear limited slip. The dust shields were replated with fresh cadmium. I had the original steering box rebuilt by Red Head in WA with a quick ratio to be joined with a replated pitman arm and a repro rag joint.

The OEM has tank couldn't be plated so I went with a metal aftermarket piece. The aftermarket fuel neck wasn't soldered on so couldn't be sweated off. The old neck was cut near the tank and spliced onto the new tank. I did have the OEM straps replated and these turned out great. The anti squeak pads cleaned up nice so I'll reuse them. Found a NOS sending unit to use.

Tracked down a NOS set of accessory shocks and steering damper - Pleasurizer Delco. Will be attached with replated OEM hardware.

I'll have the tub and doors hung before hauling the chassis back home. I'm using NOS latches, strikers, and actuators with replated hardware. The latches and strikers were replated secondary to shelf wear.
