Ha ha. I think I know what you meant but I had to re-read this a couple times.

:) Today when you see a restored truck in a work pose you can usually tell it doesn't have to work for its pay. But when a truck was seen in an old movie, especially one of the larger series trucks, it truly represented a working truck. It was supposed to look like what an average person would see on the street. So they did what they did in the movies to do exactly what they could do in the real world.

But seriously, I'm glad some like this thread so much. I had no idea when I started it that there are so many vintage AD & TF Chevy truck pics out there. Keep them coming. I really enjoy seeing them.
It's a truly great thread and it's really brought out some interesting stuff. Thank you for starting it!

There has always been "truck love", it was just waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay less common. It took decades, probably since day-1, for it to grow into what it is now. The biggest change now is most it seems are bought by people who really don't need them. They are a preferred model in the car line-up. I mean, they did stopped calling them trucks, right?

I once bought a Model A pickup from Bruce Geisler.

Any chance you could identify which movies those truck scenes are in?

Hmm...

Probably not without repeating all the searches I made. imcdb.org is where I found them. They're all saved with horribly generic filenames like i749161.jpg. For the most part I stuck to film/television that was ten years or less newer than the vehicle unless there was something that made the pictrue stand out.

Pretty sure the TF moving van being followed by the '62 Chevy car was from My Three Sons. The two AD panels side by side are from a 1970 miniseries 11 Uhr 20. The AD with the canopy and people riding on the sideboards is from a 1959 documentary Araya. The red AD with the camper that's turning hard is from The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia. Mackay Speed Shop is from To Please A Lady, 1950. The tandem axle TF in front of the old Chevy dealership is from a fairly new miniseries, The Man in the High Castle. The white 55.1 sitting under the overhang is fro Andy Griffith.

If you go to this site you should plan to get lost for a bit. Lots of cool pictures and in some cases you'll probably think "I never saw that truck in that movie" just like I did. https://www.imcdb.org/

More ID's for the movie pictures:

Red '59 GMC that's wrecked: Red Asphalt, 1964
LCF GMC with no grille next to the GMC stake bed: The Choppers, 1961
The '51 AD parked in front of the mobile home: Route 66

As a panel truck owner, I'm loving that pic! I'm surprised those factory assemblymen lean over the fenders like that with no paint protection.

Published Tuesday, July 17, 1962, pg. 1 This is the first bucket of cement poured on the Cape Girardeau section of Interstate Highway 55. The site is two miles north of Wedekind Park at a point just north of Old McKendree Chapel. The construction train shown here is a concrete pavement assembly line. Rolling on tracks, the assembly pours the concrete, levels it, removes any air pockets, finishes it and leaves behind a complete porject. The contractor is shooting for a mile of paving a day in ghe continuous process. (Missourian archives, G.D. Fronabarger photo)

Not one of our trucks but too cool to ignore. That's a New York Central overpass in Detroit with what appears to be a Pacific 4-6-2 steaming across.
